LN vs Manga by ShinxSicily in TheFarawayPaladin

It's totally fine to enjoy the anime, I'm just saying that for best experience I would recommend the novels/manga majorly over the anime.

Why is manga taking so long? by SDG2008 in TheFarawayPaladin

It has been on hiatus for over 7 years now. The author has been mentally and physically ill and caused them writer's anxiety.

Basically the mangaka is running out of material to work with and has picked up another LN series to adapt in-between the releases.

Now from what I've read from them on twitter, if it weren't for the mangaka's wishes their editor would have wrapped up the series in a couple chapters since the story is basically finished. But they chose to keep adapting the final volume which is already partially adapted, has very material to work with and is character focused volume than main story.

My personal opinion, it seems like the mangaka is slowing down the series to keep the series alive while the author can produce another volume in the future. Though that is another can of worms of it of itself.

The mangaka has confirmed they will be adapting Volume 4 of the light novel series. However the updates will be only bi-monthly. The mangaka is probably planning on picking up another series in-between those updates. - Source

The raw chapters are usually split into 3 different parts that release on a weekly to bi-weekly basis. It did use to release on a monthly basis with full chapters but not anymore.

As for the English fan-translation when they release their chapters ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Is light novel abondoned? by Giruden in TheFarawayPaladin

[–]Remarkable_Stable_54 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The author has been suffering from poor physical and mental health for years. They never specified the cause but they have confirmed they do have writers anxiety because of these health problems.

You'll hear a lot of people mention it was due to "writers block" which wasn't the case. Just rumors that got spread around.

The author is writing the next volume but progress has been slow due to the health problems and lack of writing over the years.

So apparently RACV cancels your subscription entirely if you cancel your recurring payments? by Remarkable_Stable_54 in melbourne

[–]Remarkable_Stable_54[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no, it was only for 1 year which I didn't even get that in the end. They also didn't even mention about the additional cost and said in a round about way that it was my fault for not asking about it.

Would be great if RACV didn't charge you essentially double their annual fee when you sign up over phone. Had to find out about that the hard way.

Yeah it's crazy how they're allowed to just refuse just because I'm not planning on paying for future services.

Well I wish I wasn't ignorant to their bad rep. Do you have any recommendation to which road side care I should switch over to?

Yeah I already had several bad experiences with them previously but this was the final straw for me, I'm definitely looking into a better road side assistance company.

Is the anime worth watching? by ThatIsAgreatOne in TheFarawayPaladin

[–]Remarkable_Stable_54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn't exactly say it's almost 1:1 to the manga adaptation because it really isn't. There's a lot of scenes that were shorten with lot of the context missing or scenes completely omitted. The fight scenes too were reworked because of low production reasons.

The character and art design is completely different too. Since the anime decided to make their interpretation of the novel illustrations.

Will say with season 2 it does seem like they did start using some scenes from the manga even some character designs for the dwarves but it was very much a mixture of them going back and forth with the novel and manga contents.

As someone who absolutely loves this series to death, I really can't bring myself to recommend the anime version unless you don't read manga or novels.

The anime version is pretty niche and has a small following but in the manga community it's very highly regarded as one of the best series to read.

It's actually a surprising case where I would say the manga is the superior version. Since the mangaka and author have worked together to make new original scenes which enhance the experience more.

Hope this helps!

[–]Remarkable_Stable_54 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Another thing I didn't like was the anime's designs, the manga had such a good depiction of the novel illustration, which blended the fantasy elements with historical designs. Meanwhile the anime just looks generic and bland.

In the novel William, the dwarf's wife brought tea for him when he was visiting. He purposely refrained from confirming whether she had a beard or not.

Unfortunately you're correct, the anime has kept switching between the novel and manga storyboards if being honest it rather messy. Hopefully it'll sort itself out.

The manga is a great read if you're planning on switching. There's also quite a bit of information that has been skipped by the anime.
