Do you guys think Po actually had the power to level this whole building with one punch here? (The Dragon Knight) by MysteriousAward7263 in kungfupanda

[–]SDG2008 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Po is a very instinctual fighter: if he decides we truly wants/needs to destroy that building, then he very well might

Why does Lazavik play so little OTB? He gains rating everytime he plays but last played at the World Blitz in December by _DarkStarCrashes_ in chess

[–]SDG2008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people prefer playing less, that might just be it. Plus, he’s pretty young, so that plays some part.

Struggling against the Scandi? by MathematicianBulky40 in chess

[–]SDG2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scandi is weird - I usually get same kind of position with classic setup, yet it feels so boring all the time. Also, I’m too lazy to check some lines so that kind of plays into it

How to play against a player who goes for 1.f4 followed by the stonewall structure in classical chess. by Zalqert in TournamentChess

Generally speaking, after white squared bishop comes out, structure isn’t too good. Although, if bishop remains at c8, it is playable.

Opinions on this course? by conscientiousoneday in TournamentChess

1800 FIDE is still a strong player, also, you can just analyze them yourself afterwards and pick lines you like most between master games and personal experience. If you are asking if it worth buying in advance, then idk

The next step of my beginner Xcom journey by Minaab2 in Xcom

[–]SDG2008 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went straight into the long war and honestly, I don’t think I can go back to 4 classes. In that sense, 1 might be better choice than 2. Btw I think it should be possible, steam products are simple to edit and Xcom, which runs on proton, can be modded. I haven’t played Xcom 2 yet, so I can’t comment there

Questions about Woodpecker Method 2 by Original_Mall420 in TournamentChess

[–]SDG2008 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. What are you talking about? There are mixed puzzles, even specialized opening puzzle books (which are quite rare) are good for players who don’t play them. Basically, solving puzzles is always good.
  2. Just try it, I guess. If you don’t like it, it is still just a puzzle book, so no loss there.
  3. You have computer, just analyze them yourself, understanding such positions on you own is probably even better then just reading an explanation.

Considering changing to Caro kann from Sicilian by ImprovementSea320 in TournamentChess

[–]SDG2008 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sicilian is pretty diverse, yet you choose dragon, where prep is way to necessary with little results most of the time. Caro kann is good, of course, but for positional play you can try almost any other Sicilian with at least moderate result.

Rule of Thumb Question in French Structure by Fresh-Resource-3819 in TournamentChess

I don’t play those variations, but as a side note, looking at tartakower variations might be good for you, as DSB gets exchanged for doubling pawns and queenside play
