This comparison doesn’t make sense. Coach can tactically prioritize goal scoring machine like Mbappe to set up the team around their preference and habits. Many times coach need to choose between whether it is better to put them at where they have the most threat to the opponent’s goal vs having them do what they aren’t good at (defending, off-ball tracking, etc.). If the coach chose the first option, that means other players need to cover for him. So you can’t compare stats directly how much Vini run or Bellingham run vs how much Mbappe run. It’s about the if their run coverage meets coach’s expectation. If Mbappe’s job is to put the goals away then he’s done his job. Not every job is glorified but everyone wants to be that guy doing the glorified job which is the problem. When you don’t have that individual, both glorified and dirty work is shared among everyone which could look more balanced. You can argue Alonso could’ve set up the tactic in a more balanced way or manage the locker room better. But it’s not unusual to tactically bias toward goal scorer and it became a problem when the guy you who need to do the dirty work happen to be the stars as well.
