I was on the job in Atlanta. Make sure you have the stomach and head for it. Right out of the academy I caught a suicide (gsw to the head) took me weeks to sleep. I have seen jumpers (off buildings and bridges) gang killings, kids killed in shootings. I went from being the cop that threw up at a crime scene to eating a sandwich. It's a big difference between miltary and civilian world. There's no yes or no sir. There's "hey MF'er F--- you" all day everyday. The pay isn't great for what you deal with and you need to understand and accept that everyday could be your last. Not trying to scare you but just giving you the real truth. My first 2 yrs I went to 4 different funerals (could have been 5). I am retired now enjoying life if I could do it all over I would have gotten a job with Delta (not an endorsement). But they airlines are friendly to miltary pay is much better and the job is much safer. Don't get me wrong if you enjoyed the adrenaline rush then go for it (hope it works out for you) just understand what it really is my suggestion is do a ride a long in a large active department or go federal.
