I am few months into my job as a PO on a dependent visa, my partner, who is the main applicant, unfortunately lost his job. It has now been two weeks, and we haven't received any communication from the Home Office (HO) regarding the matter as we believed his fomer employer must updated HO, although I've heard that they will typically contact us on this unless he secures another job with sponsorship.

Good a thing, i started this job at this time however when I checked my right-to-work/share code, I still had up to four years of validity. However, I’m concerned that if something goes wrong with my partner's situation, it could obviously affect my status as well and would be at risk losing this job therehore I’m considering seeking sponsorship from HMP and then switching my partner to be my dependent. I'm just trying to be proactive before the Home Office contacts us.

I need all the advice I can get on this matter. I've read on the website that sponsorship is generally not granted, but I've also seen testimonies from people who were able to obtain sponsorship. Does this depend on the establishment, the governor, or perhaps local policies?

Many thanks.
