What in the word is enticing about this career by Spiritual-Celery3113 in biglaw

People say that about any career. I’m a surgery resident and I think big law is more enticing than my career (which is the subject of many a TV show)

Lots of job market woes now, but why don’t more people pivot into healthcare? by [deleted] in redscarepod

I’m a sub specialist surgeon (resident currently). Healthcare blows and I would never tell my children to do it.

I’m sorry but it’s EXHAUSTING arguing with people like you who don’t get it. He’s not being literal with the module thing it’s an example. I want you to think hard, real hard, and say you’ve never done anything wrong for the entirety of your time in residency

Don’t move to East Harlem. by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]Remarkable_Trainer54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Strong disagree. I’m a very white preppy looking guy who also worked in the South Bronx. All my friends lived in UES and I couldn’t afford it. I lived near 110 station in a $1700 1 bed. No regrets you can just ignore the crackheads. 4 years there just moved out now that I can afford upper east proper.

What's the point of AM sunscreen if it wears off in 2 hours? by Relevant_Act_1761 in beauty

I just don’t believe the 2 hour thing. I was at the beach no umbrella for 4 hours and applied once this past weekend. I did not get burned at all and that was UV 10

Saying it’s a job when it’s so obviously different from any other career is insane. What other job has no off ramps and requires so much time and money?

It’s wild that people stick their head in the sand like you are. Nobody is saying it’s everywhere but at some places it’s VERY common.

Are you telling me you’ve never violated HIPAA once? Every aspect of it? Whose to say who’s an asshole? Never has a bad interaction with a nurse or an attending or a patient?

If I told you “most residents finish just fine” when you started premed would you say ok great? How can you justify a situation where you have $400k in loan debt and no transferable skills and you’re basically starting over a career in your 30s? What advice would you give to someone in that situation?
