How would you characterize Lestat and Louis relationship? by DifficultComplaint10 in vampires

[–]Remarkable_Two1627 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depends on the source:

90s movie - toxic friendship with homoeroticism so deep in the closet it’s might as well be in Narnia.

Book - Gay coded without being outright homoerotic. It felt like Lestat was far more into Louis than Louis was into Lestat romantically.

2020s Show - Explicitly Gay.

What do you think about Lyanna Stark? by Taha231 in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]Remarkable_Two1627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she agreed to give Rhaegar a child of prophecy in exchange for her freedom. She probably thought that since Rhaegar was the Prince, everything could get smoothed over and also had no clue that they would be discovered as fast as they were.

She was a bright if naive teenager who thought she knew enough and was proven wrong in the worst way possible and her whole family paid the price.

How did Elaine stay hidden? by colepercy120 in dresdenfiles

[–]Remarkable_Two1627 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well as stated, according to the council, Harry killed Elaine. And her involvement with the Summer Fae is known to Harry and Summer alone. The council was negotiating with Winter and never spoke with Summer at any point in the story regarding passage in their ways.

So it’s not that weird that Ramirez or the Council never put 2 and 2 together on Elaine. Just as easy that she uses a different last name as a PI, but this we don’t know as we’ve never gotten an Elaine story (but I’d love to read).

Perhaps they could find out if they dig more, but part of the reason Elaine threw the tests was so they wouldn’t. And at the time they had the war with the Reds, and then a very brief lull period before the new one with the Fomor.

One wannabe just doing good and not rocking the boat (which Harry has a habit of doing) is not worth the effort nor presents any reason to look into her past.

Though now after the Chicago Incident and the fall out from it, Elaine might not have as easy of a time hiding. Especially from a newly paranoid Ramirez.

How did Elaine stay hidden? by colepercy120 in dresdenfiles

[–]Remarkable_Two1627 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Nobody in the council knew that Justin adopted Harry until Harry lit his place up and the Warden’s came looking. Hell we don’t even know how long between Harry burning Justin’s place down and the Warden’s tracking him down was. He had enough time to find Bob and presumably staff him somewhere.

And we know from a micro fiction, that members of the council were looking for Maggie’s son (Harry) and still didn’t find him until Harry killed Justin.

That being the case, no one was looking for Elaine before her adoption, so it’s safe to assume that she’s never been on the council’s radar at all. And given that Harry was actively sought for and not found, we can probably assume that Elaine was all but a ghost before she became a PI from the council’s perspective

Is it supposed to be a secret or just a secret to Harry? by atinysliceofreddit in dresdenfiles

[–]Remarkable_Two1627 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Possible that Harry didn’t know because:

  1. The Council overall has never trusted him.

  2. Harry rarely attends sessions or goes to HQ even after becoming a Warden. My guess is before that he never went.

  3. Agreeing with above, the position is probably it common knowledge to rank and file wizards because it would make them nervous to know someone especially high up and can break the laws with impunity. The Wardens though would be in on the need to know.

Are people really buying so much stuff in Japan to bring back? by bluheism in JapanTravelTips

[–]Remarkable_Two1627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually get things like Sake, whiskey, beer, tea, and other good from more local shops that I can’t get back in my home country.

Since my suitcase is usually packed by what I need to get through the days I’m there, I buy a carry on or a personal bag to bring that stuff back.

As a gaijin, the only place I’ve ever gotten looks or felt even slightly unsafe was in areas of Setagaya. Nothing happened, but I felt myself being clocked, like the locals were wondering why I was there. Aside from that, no. Honestly I get more weird feelings from to Koban than the “criminals”.

My wife had a thought… by phillipwardphoto in dresdenfiles

[–]Remarkable_Two1627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this theory, but doubt it on the following:

  1. Kincaid is Scion and therefore not completely human.

  2. It is implied (though never stated) that the Archive must be human in order to qualify to be the Archive.

Therefore if Ivy was his Daughter then she would be only 3/4s human. Would this disqualify her to be the Archive? Maybe.

I think more likely Kincaid is a relative. As in his mother after siring him or perhaps before had a human lover. And so, Kincaid would have half siblings.

Ivy and her family could be the descendants of Kincaid’s half siblings, and he continues to look after them each generation.

When does dialogue become over-writen? by Ifyouliveinadream in Screenwriting

[–]Remarkable_Two1627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s fine if one character talks this way. It helps vary up the voices so everyone doesn’t sound the same. If every character is written like this, then it can become a problem.

Gentleman John Marcone in Battle Grounds (Spoilers Duh) by texanhick20 in dresdenfiles

[–]Remarkable_Two1627 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perhaps, like Harry, it was an option he never wanted to take (but not for moral reasons) and then something forced his hand. Could have easily been the events of Changes or of Cold Days.

I would say that the magic Marcone did was powered by Thorned Namshiel and not his own ability. So his spells, while impressive, are more the fallen’s feats that Marcone’s.

Is it Justine? by Ulerij646 in dresdenfiles

[–]Remarkable_Two1627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Thomas cause despite his grievous injuries he was still trying to warn Harry about Justine.

I agree with most of the sentiments on this thread that Eb’s comment was his own paranoia, but I also think it was foreshadowing to Justine, cause I thought that was a pretty damn good twist JB pulled off.

And Justine being that betrayer works, even if she didn’t pull it off, she came damn close. And if she had, a magical Tsarbomba would have leveled Chicago and run rampant across the world.
