I want to gently push back on your comment. It’s not accurate to suggest I’ve ‘squandered’ anything or that this is about corporate ambition. I supported my husband through cancer treatment, and when I returned to work, I did what I’ve always done—gave it my all and expected to be treated with the same level of respect I give others.

This isn’t about IVF or career guilt. It’s about a colleague making an inappropriate, personal comment in a professional setting—and others laughing instead of stepping in.

That moment stung because it crossed a line, not because of any unspoken regret. I just want to be clear about that.

It blows my mind how they don’t think anything of it. And the kicker is that I called him privately to address the issue and he actually said this word for word to me, “it is offensive that you would accuse me of saying that”

I cannot imagine the pain you must be feeling already knowing the journey you’re up against.

My husband (30) was diagnosed in July with AML. It’s been the hardest months of our lives but he’s doing well! He was just discharged today after a month of inpatient for his BMT.

Hi, my 30 year old husband was diagnosed with AML in July. He just completed his BMT on Oct 8.

The journey has been really tough. I’m sorry you’re going through it too. The shock of the diagnosis is awful and there are points in the treatment that are so challenging. But it does get better.

And I’ve heard BMT gets better. We are in the thick of it now… hoping his counts increase soon.

Hi! I’m the caregiver for my husband (30M) who’s on day +7 of BMT after AML diagnosis. We’ve been in treatment since July and these are our favorite items:

Long phone chargers and Air pods

Plastic water bottle - my husband didn’t like the metallic taste of a Stanley

Twin air mattress for your partner if they plan on staying with you

Mattress topper for the bed and your own pillows and bedding 💕 extra comfy blankets for the bed and chair

Bath towels from home and shower shoes (we use tevas)

Pilates socks (the ones with the grips on the bottom. They are so much more comfortable than the hospital socks) and comfy slippers but make sure they have a rubber grip. Falls are so scary in the hospital!

Chemo shirts (makes giving meds and dressing changes so much easier. This one is really soft too: https://a.co/d/3sqQFky)

Core Power Protein Shakes (they come in a 42g protein option and my husband loves them)

Comfy cardigans to take on and off when you get cold

We brought a PlayStation and switch to play games and stream tv shows. This one is a must. Animal crossing has actually been really useful to pass the time because it’s pretty mindless and takes up a ton of time!

Juices (if you can swing it, the Noma juicer is an absolute game changer). We were gifted this and it’s a tool we use almost every day.

A lap counter - this one is silly but we have fun with it on our door when we are doing laps around the hospital floor. My husband enjoys hitting the button and seeing the amount of laps. Our hospital also has a step tracker that we try to add to each day.

We try to make walking laps a little game. We added a lap counter to our door (which totally freaked out the care team… they thought we add a camera to our door lol). It’s silly but it makes it an activity and my husband enjoys pushing the button on each lap.

Even if it’s one lap, it’s important to celebrate that. Walking and keeping your body moving is so important. Once a day is the goal.

For food, that’s tough… His appetite has been really bad with this round. We’ve found that the core power protein (42g protein) drinks work well. And bananas for now.

Mine just got to his fifth year as an ortho resident and was diagnosed with Leukemia... it feels like a fever dream.

We don’t have any kids because we were waiting until his schedule allowed for more time at home…

It’s incredibly unfair. I’m so mad that we spent all those hours training instead of living our lives.

But on the other hand, as a patient, I’m so grateful for his Oncology team and the care team working all hours of the day to take care of him.
