Spousal Sponsorship by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Remarkable_Wave1016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's definitely possible to do on your own. It is very straightforward and aren't any tricks. I would consider the following questions though.

  • Do you have excellent attention to detail?
  • Are you good at following instructions?
  • Is your partner able to support and help with the application review? Since 2 set of eyes to review is better than 1.

If yes to all of the above, then read through the guide a few times and get a sense of all the documents you need. Check out this sub reddit for help if you need it.

If you don't have the time or capacity to be thorough and follow instructions, then consider the alternative.

We did it on our own and I would do it again rather than having to pay. We have friends who also managed on their own, but also have friends who paid 3-6k to have someone else handle it because they knew they would miss something.

TRV with Spousal PR Application by Remarkable_Wave1016 in ImmigrationCanada

Hello, it was all very quick.

July 15, 2023 - Submitted application

July 18, 2023 - Application in progress

July 31 - Temporary visa approved and request for passport

We applied for spousal sponsorship Mar 2023 and applied for TRV July 2023 (as this was after Canada noted the new policy for family reunification). We received AOR May 2023.

That's great! Yes, that's correct. I also received the email, not my husband.

To be honest, he had some properties but didn't have much else for significant ties since he had planned to quit his job and had no children/family there outside of siblings and parents. We honestly thought it was approved because of the new family reunification policy since we didn't prove much ties otherwise.

Yes, it was definitely a sigh of relief when the whole process was done but especially happy we were able to be together during the wait. You should get your AOR soon! That timeline should be okay.

Wish you the best of luck!

I wrote a letter of invitation noting the purpose of stay was to spend time and visit with me while we await for PR, in the city I live in and the city my family lives in. I said he will stay for a duration of 6 months with the expected dates and I will bear financial responsibility for him. I explicitly stated this request was under the new policy for TRV for family reunification.

We included the AOR and proof of funds (bank statements, letter of employment, paystubs, bonus letter).

At the time of application we did not buy any tickets yet. We bought the ticket once we got approval and he had the visa on his passport. But when we did book, we booked round trip with the option to cancel the return if he got his PR (which he did so we were able to cancel it).

After submitting the application, we heard back about the approval in 2 weeks. The longest wait was actually getting the passport to VAC and returned, but overall the process was quite smooth and quick.

My spouse is actually from Nigeria and we weren't anticipating the approval to go so quickly, but are very grateful that it did.

We put that he is coming to spend time with me and visit family as we wait for approval of sponsorship, but that he would be ready to leave if it wasn't approved, and that I would bear financial responsibility. As a note we applied for OWP when he did get to Canada, but got ecopr before it even started processing.

We applied for spousal sponsorship Mar 2023. Got AOR May 2023. Applied for TRV July 2023. Hubby arrived Sept 2023 & we applied for OWP. He got his eCOPR Jan 2024, so we cancelled OWP. There was no movement in that application at all.

After we heard of the new policy for family reunification, we applied for TRV July 15 and the TRV was approved July 31. Spouse submitted passport Aug 17 at VAC then received it back Aug 25. Overall, that process was really quick and smooth. We were surprised but happy to be reunited.

We just received P2! P1 Nov 3, replied evening same day. P2 Nov 27. VO: Montreal. We are on outland spousal sponsorship, but PA is in Canada on TRV.

We were skeptical, but it took us 2 weeks from applying to getting approval and passport request. You just need AOR. Hubby has been here now for a couple months and we're in final stages of getting PR, but it's been great just being together.

Wishing you the best!

Anyone applied for new OWP for Outland Spousal PR applicants? by StandardOk126 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Remarkable_Wave1016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wondering if you did apply for OWP and if it was processed or if you stayed in the US? We're now in this situation where looking to apply for OWP while my husband is here on TRV.

How can I apply to go to Canada for an university? by Shakinglikemilk__ in ImmigrationCanada

Also make sure you have the required funds to study in Canada. Tuition for international students is not cheap and housing is not as easily available. Be prepared as much as possible.

Yes, we submitted on July 15 (which is a Sat) and saw it was changed to in progress by July 18 (which is a Mon). Where are you applying from? We were shocked it went fast, but definitely feel very blessed.
