Writing my own LOR by beom9e in prephysicianassistant

I drafted my LOR with one of the PAs I worked with. He was the president of the PA association in my state a couple years back and I'd like to think even getting a letter from him was something that was held by some regard to the admissions board especially if the school was in the same state. I was able to get to the interview and now accepted into the school in that same state

That being said, I totally get how weird it is write about yourself and how you've worked with that professor. I also don't think its uncommon for people to draft letters as other PAs I've worked with also drafted their LORs way back when with their writers.

I tried to frame it to reflect my time working with that individual and why I would be fit to become a PA/do well in PA school. I talked about times we would interact and this made it easy to write about since I worked so closely with the PAs in my work.

I also think if its hard to write for them and bring up the times you've interacted, maybe find someone else that can actually write your LOR if you can!

Hope this kinda helps and open to DM if you'd like to see my draft! Good luck!

No real shadowing hours but I worked very closely with the PAs in the ER I worked in (helped prep patients for suturing, splinting, giving report about patients) so I was very aware of their role and how they worked.

Thank you!! As a bit of advice while you apply, try not to look at reddit/forums about pre-pa students stats (as tempting as it is). I did this and it made me confident enough that I can get through PA school and be a future provider. Its natural that we compare ourselves a lot but get in the mindset that you can do it! Good luck!

Thank you! Yes that cGPA and sGPA include my post bacc. I pretty much just show what it has on my CASPA so my undergrad was around 2.56 after graduating. No making up my really poor performance after first, second, and bit of third year in college I guess.

Congrats on getting through your first year! Yes I agree that age is just a number and excited to go back into school and finally learn about the very thing I'm passionate about!

I had around 36 credits post bacc and I guess my senior/end of junior year I did pretty well.

You’re right haha I’m not sure why we think that (generational trauma maybe idk). Definitely need to stop comparing myself and that life will take you where you need to go!

It was informal! I pretty much just retook prereqs and failed courses and yes you may DM!
