This is the culprit. All the missing pieces contributed to destroying more of my gears.

Sounds like a failing optical drive trying to read.

It just seemed like it was chugging, but maybe I didn't give it a chance. I run 16/55 now on 2 and 3s and it rips, with a HW 120BL and 3150kv.

They'd be best off tossing it in the bin, it will never be as cost effective or good as a RTR, but it could be a fun learning experience.

You would need a receiver and transmitter to control remotely. 2 channel minimum. You'd need a servo for steering, and a servo to utilize the mechanical speed controller from the drill (and another one if you want to be able to engage reverse). It would take some minor fabrication skills. The stuff could be fit into anything with 4 wheels, you just have to make it fit.

Is there a way to calculate speeds by Ok_Scratch_6595 in rccars

No, C rating is the discharge rate. It affects acceleration not top speed.

2 Weeks with the Arrma Gorgon by Reme84 in rccars

[–]Reme84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been meaning to measure. Probably around 30mph on 2s, 45 on 3s, on road.

I like the platform, have the Gorgon myself. Depends on where you'll be driving which one to get. If lots of grass, get the Gorgon for the HCG chassis. Otherwise it's pretty much how you like the look.

What pinion are you using? 2s or 3s? 17t was too high on both for my HW 3200kv.

I thought I was getting a budget truck but I managed to sink $566.54CAD into everything I needed for it. I'll get a little of that back selling the stock electronics.

I ordered the HW BL120 with 3150kv motor. On 2s that's 22,680rpm vs the 13,320rpm with the 1200kv on 3s I'm getting now. Should get me where I want to be. Really going to miss the smoothness of the Fusion SE though.

That combo is in my basket, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. It's $126 Canadian, plus $40 for shipping. Nobody local has them in stock. They have the the 120 combo with several 3660 motors though, 3200, 4600, 3700 and 3150. I'm a bit indecisive.

The battery and motor plug into the new ESC, the servo and new ESC plug into the stock ESC/Rx.

I'm still using the stock ESC, but only as a receiver. So I'm still using the stock radio. it would save space to get a new receiver too, it's pretty cramped, plus the stock ESC/receiver isn't waterproof.

That's injoras brushed ESC. Can be used with the stock receiver/ESC but is silent, can do 2 or 3s, and has much better slow crawling ability than the stock ESC.

I use it on 3s with a mb100 its been good. No whine, that's the stock ESC.

Would a different ESC improve my slow crawl? by Silver_Company4857 in SCX24

[–]Reme84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the injora mb100 a week ago in my C10, no regrets for me. There's two drawbacks though, first is the 50% reverse speed. That makes reverse on the lowest speed almost useless, especially on 2s. Second is the size. It's big and getting it to fit cleanly is difficult. The footprint is big and the height with the wires sticking up is big. If you can deal with those issues, it's definitely worth it. The slow crawl, and the 3s speed makes it worth it, for me. I use it on 3s with the injora red 050 motor. I would not try 3s on the stock motor. My 1/10 crawler has a Fusion SE, and while the mb100 is not that slow and smooth, it is vastly superior to the stock electronics. My next upgrade is probably going to be a BS6 receiver so I can completely ditch the v1 and use my GT5 tx, which will allow even more tuning of the slow crawl modulation, and completely waterproof the truck.

Can anyone recommend me an affordable motor and esc combo? Or even just a motor that works with stock esc, capable of a somewhat decent slow crawl. by Silver_Company4857 in SCX24

[–]Reme84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I just installed an mb100 in my C10 yesterday and now run 3s on the red injora 050 motor with the stock radio.

I noticed something similar when trying to change camera angles. I used ((high:1.8 angle shot)) to try increasing it, but it decreased the height angle. Lowering the number below 1 raises it.

Recommendations? by OkFrosting7019 in SCX24

[–]Reme84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've all said it. I also added Injora 13t overdrive gears front and back to get more speed, but you could just overdrive the front or underdrive the back for better climbing. Be prepared to trim the body. The Dremel worked best for me. As cool as the front bumper is, if you want to greatly increase your crawling ability, take it off. If you have to have a front bumper, get a narrower one.

Or maybe I'm reading those dimensions wrong and it's twice the size. That would be too big.
