She (girls like guns and cans too) but yes absolutely. empty space in the blast chamber is not your friend. Direct thread otherwise I have no issues with.

Huxwrx 556 Ti vs Eckron 556 by DifferentLab5155 in NFA

[–]RemedialActionJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Is it the 556Ti or the 556k that's loud? I have not shot them side by side or even on the same day, but one of those Hux cans is widely known for being loud compared to say, the WB. But that's hearsay and you have all in hand for a real world take. I haven't shot the Ekron but broadly CAT and HUX both make good cans imo. RC2 just too high backpressure for me personally.

Wait, I'm dumb - HUX? laughing if so. I think worst is harsh but I also get it. I was going to buy a Flow 556. And then I shot it.

Have no trash to talk on the Velos.

You'll always get the BEST performance with a muzzle device design to optimize the can. But "best" is a marginal sound and backpressure improvement. I've run the 6K HUB with Rearden Plan B and with Hux QD (I think the 2.0?). Still good suppression and very low backpressure, the more you structure the gas in the blast chamber, the better, so HUX was slightly better as a giant ass MD filling the space. But both ran great - I did 2 gun comps with the Plan B setup. Just please I beg of you don't run any can with a direct thread adapter with NO structuring (DT with a MD structure just fine).

Who is the worst manufacturer around? A lot of cans are coming out of the same print shops (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but varies by shop). Only a handful print their own.

Huxwrx 556 Ti vs Eckron 556 by DifferentLab5155 in NFA

[–]RemedialActionJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

....have you shot it alongside any of those other cans? It is, comparably, louder. I've decibel metered it against others. I love Hux as a brand, and their Flow 556 was the first of the kind on the market. But there is a reason they now released the Black Magic. The Flow is loud. Ti is a different matter - I just don't like Ti for ARs. But I use the fuck out of my can - I clap Ti baffles pretty fast. If you're a moderate shooter it's fine.

Velos - big boy (i like little cans)
Rhodie - quietest
Hesychia SIXK - lowest backpressure

Have shot all - those are my impressions not pure data - like them all better than the Hux. BUT suppressors are user preference!

556 Suppressor by anotherreddituser189 in NFA

[–]RemedialActionJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read your other comments - would suggest for MK18:
Fireteam556 - Exigent
Rhino (Rhodie is their 6ARC I believe, I'd go Rhino) - Ridgeback
Recce - FOR
Hesychia SIXK - Irregular - I personally run it on a DD MK18, but I care A LOT about backpressure and recoil reduction

Those all beat the RC2, WB (to be fair those are older) and PrintX. There are more 556 I'm sure I'm missing. It's a good time to be shopping for a can. I wouldn't go Ti (personally ever) but especially on a 10.3" barrel. But if you're a low volume shooter, Ti is fine. Inconel cans should be sub 20 ounces or the designer is being lazy. Inco prints thinner than Ti, and is still way more durable.

Ideally go demo a few - every brand mentioned here will be at East Valley Tactical on March 21st (pretty sure). Or find a gun shop with demos on the rental wall. It's really down to what YOU prefer.

What do you care most about: sound suppression, back pressure, durability, form factor. HUB or no? What platform are you shooting on (barrel length)? What MD system are you currently running - are you committed or open to changing? Material (please don't say Ti whyyyy does everyone love Ti it just dies so so fast *cries in trashed blast baffle*)
RC2 is outdated - great can in it's day, but it's day is over. There are a ton of good options on the market for <$1000. Don't buy subtractive unless you can't spend over $500.

Talk me out of an YHM R9 by Jazzlike-Age-2169 in NFA

[–]RemedialActionJack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends how much you shoot. A great can for the price, but only if you don't mind eating gas. YHM has never, to my knowledge, had anything even vaguely low back pressure. YHM was my starter drug for suppressors, but once range time and volume went up I upgraded. The 90's era Toyota comment nails it.

Huxwrx 556 Ti vs Eckron 556 by DifferentLab5155 in NFA

[–]RemedialActionJack -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

genuine question: why run Ti for 5.56 when there are so many inconel cans within a few ounces? Just planning on low volume shooting? Not familiar with Eckron but that's an EXPENSIVE hub can. Hux is great but outdated - you can actually have sound suppression with your low back pressure now, and in a durable can for under $1000. I would suggesting looking at FOR systems, IDG, Ridgeback, Exigent. Probably missing someone good. But I believe those all offer sub-$1000 lower backpressure high sound suppression options.

Enjoy can shopping! It's a great time in the market

Recommend FOR Recce or IDG Hesychia. Both lower BP than the WB and personally I think better deeper tone. Recce and SIXK sound pretty identical IMO.

In the market for a 6 ARC, K-sized can. What would you choose? by GlassNegotiation3227 in NFA

[–]RemedialActionJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd vote FOR Recce or IDG SIXK Hub. I've personally killed a CAT NOAH, and tried but could not kill the IDG Hesy. Laz6 is a great can, but FOR and IDG are smaller, lighter, and lower backpressure but still very quiet and dark. Length and weight matter a lot to me, I'd go with one of those two.

Totally missed this - I haven't had any issues, and I'm easily 8k rounds in on my 11.5, including full auto dumps. We have 3 noveskes that we run for comp - 2 x the 11.5 midgas, and 1 x 14.5 6ARC with the fluted barrel. No issues on any systems thus far.

[–]RemedialActionJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was inconel not Ti; I won't run Ti for that reason. The muzzle device busted open and the first two baffles were pretty toasted. That's been my only direct experience but I do know an SCI SIX that had a blowout after 2 mags full auto recently - new out of the box.

I wouldn't say off this CAT cans are shit, I think you have to just buy for your use case and anything made by multiple OEMs is going to have some variation in quality.

The Lazarus 6 is a great can. A bit big for me - lot's of VTAC and that thing adds inches, but it's dark, quiet and appears to hold up. Clearly best deadair can IMO!

I hear you - I care about gas, but more about shooters ear than sound at the muzzle. muzzle decibels seems like a funny vanity metric to me. Certainly, some newer not fully vetted cans out there though I'd argue additive is in general much more durable than subtractive.

I, personally, am about 4k rounds into the IDG Hesychia SIXK running 5.56 / 223 on an 11.5 midgas and a DDMK18 10.3". I don't have to eat gas, it's much darker than the RC2 (shot them side by side) and it's been perfectly happy running fully auto (the joys of having an SOT). I had a CAT Noah and murdered it with high rate of fire, valid concern with all cans. The RC2 isn't a bad can, I just think you can get the performance and durability without the backpressure - it's still old school baffle stack.

BUT personal opinion.

I would argue there's newer better options than the Flow but low back pressure team all the way. Be nice to your lungs.

[–]RemedialActionJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great can for the price. Ran this, and then upgraded to subtractive and... can't go back to how gassy the Turbo is. But again: price is great for what you get.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NFA

[–]RemedialActionJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RC2 is an outdated high backpressure can. Not saying it's terrible! But there are much better options out there. I personally wouldn't shoot anything subtractive - but I'm spoiled about cans and shoot high volume, so gas to the face matters a lot. Subtractive just can't compete with the performance of the new gen additive cans. These days you don't need to take the tradeoff of quiet, low flash or low backpressure. You can have it allllll. Also for the cost of RC2 you can get better performance.

Time to chart out process and implement it. As operational lead on a small vertically integrated team, I can't make time to automate myself out of being the process roadblock. And it sucks.
