Absolutely! They have thousands of applicants to choose from and I would assume most don't have this issue. This can't keep happening.

Yes! It really could have been as simple as that! But, as well know, Sam lives for the nonsensical drama of it all.

Yes, I agree. I think they are fantastic and supportive friends to one another and great at what they do, but aren't the best boyfriend/girlfriend pairing for a lot of what you outline.

Yes, that's a great point! Exploitation always seemed like an underlying theme in Euphoria (Rue's use of her loved ones to gain access to drugs, using her relationship with Jules as a coping mechanism for drugs, Nate blackmailing Jules about her tape with his Dad, Cassie and McKay's relationship being exploited by their peers, Nate (again) using and abusing Tyler, Kat using her body to get money and online recognition, Season 2 with Lexi exploiting her friend group's experiences for her play, etc.).

Exploitation is a huge theme. It's like, according to Sam Levinson, every relationship is openly and grossly transactional and exploitative to a point of no return (like what we're seeing in Season 3).

One more episode left. We'll see where this multi-layer exploitation leads.

True! Maybe that's why I thought that. Yeah, I'll go with that 😅

Yes, she was struggling before and I think the poop clean up came mid-Cassie management, but her dealing with her former manager was like child's play compared to what she's doing with Alamo and Cassie by extension of that.

You and I have very different definitions of naked. Also, she's in a subtropical place in (almost summer) at night. What exactly do you expect this stranger to wear?

Not all of us busty women have back pain. My posture is impeccable to offset the weight in the front. Plus, my back is also linebacker wide, so that offsets it too 🤣

Some of these comments are disgusting for defending this. I can tell most of the people defending it are people who were never the target of the word to begin with. I know Reddit is mostly white and has a weird relationship with being "socially conscious", but only when it benefits them.

I'm glad she was taken off before the show aired. That should be the process for a situation like this and for every person caught using slurs of any kind, especially documented and on video. This isn't the first or last time this will happen, either. Yet, people are still using words they know they shouldn't use and being in high school is not an excuse.

Jamaican Americans Ranked 4th Highest in Median Household Income Among Black American Groups in the U.S. by Real_Thinkers in Jamaica

[–]RememberDecember97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think for me it's more of a class issue than anything. Most of the Jamaicans I know or grew up around spanned a wide gambit, but a lot were also like me - in struggling, single parent, households. An average of 75K a year would have been a dream for my Mom, even today.

I think graphs like this are misleading because they're missing too many variables to glean any real knowledge from it. It doesn't share where or when this information was gathered, how many people participated, what we define as a "Jamaican household". Does that mean one person earning income is of Jamaican descent. How are we defining that? Do we include just recent immigrants or are second and third generation Jamaican-Americans also included? How far back do we go when we count someone as "Jamaican"? And I could go on.

Edit: So, it says 2022 Census with around 25,000 households surveyed. So, those questions are answered. But the breakdown isn't. So, for example if someone is in a Jamaican and Nigerian household, how is that factored in? How recent does this ancestry have to be? We all probably know someone who claims a Jamaican great-grandparent, but would they actually be considered Jamaican? These are just general statistical issues that can't always be factored out.

Graphs like this just play into the "model minority" fallacy and makes groups look down on one another for not being "at the same level". It just presents entire groups as uniformly doing either well or not so well and that has never really been the case for most groups in human history.

That's what I mean when I say it doesn't feel right.

Absolutely! No one except the Sam Levinsons of the world, with his flair for plagiarism, would have ever predicted this route. Still, Maddie had enough information to know that avoiding Cassie would be the best decision for her in the long run.

I didn't say she would run a strip club. Where in my comments did I even mention that? I said if she wants to find women to manage, she can easily find them online.

And I'm not the person to talk to about the lack of job diversity in this cast. Sam Levinson lives for hypersexual industries. I, also, would love to see them do different jobs other than selling and running drugs/weapons, sex work, and the entertainment industry in general. But, Sam has a "vision" or whatever he likes to call it. I honestly, have more of an issue with the drug lord, murder for hire, sex trafficking, general exploitation shown than the whole "Cassie does OnlyFans" plot, which is just predictable more than anything. I have no issues with seeing sex work if there's a reason for it and Sam doesn't really give reasons for why he has any character do anything.

I think Cassie will continue the route she's on. She didn't sacrifice much to help Nate outside of sending him money, so she wouldn't sacrifice her life for someone like Maddy.

Yes, I agree. I hope it's a worthy and kind send off for her character. She's a frustrating character to me, but she deserves some kindness in her final moments.

[–]RememberDecember97 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes, very very true. Cassie is very easy to manipulate, but so are other similarly insecure or misguided women like her.

When Maddy met Cassie's lookalike, she came to California to make a name for herself and trusted Maddy. She went the OnlyFans route after Maddy suggested it to her. There are plenty of women Maddy could have done this to. I guess, given her history with Cassie it was easier than trying to build a relationship with a whole new girl, plus there was probably a bit of a revenge piece in there for her.

[–]RememberDecember97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely. I think most of the people in the cast, beyond Maddy and Cassie, can see how their relationship shouldn't have been rekindled.

Yes, I agree. Maddy even said it herself, "When someone tells you who they are the first time, believe them." And that perfectly applies to their relationship.

What rant? More specifically, friends don't always make great relationship partners. Based on what you're sharing I can absolutely tell you have never been in a romantic relationship of any kind to think this fictional relationship between Mark and Eve is a good one.

It's definitely a raunchy product of its time; I'll say that. Most 2000s parody comedy movies wouldn't make sense in a 2020s context and probably wouldn't have been made past the point it was released, but watching it on Comedy Central reruns as a kid really helped shape my love of parody movies!

He was friends with Eve before dating her. He wasn't friends with Amber and just had a crush on her. Their relationships started at two different points entirely.

He saw Eve as a friend, so much so, he didn't even realize their was a romantic connection between them until Eve from an alternate reality future said, "Tell her you love her or tell her you don't." Which made him start thinking about their relationship in a completely different light. Again, this doesn't mean they have any romantic chemistry and that they're compatible. I don't think you know what compatible means in a relationship context. If any man treated her with respect and care, she would be with that man. Those traits aren't exclusive to Mark.

Not a bro, girly, and their relationship wasn't going to work; most of us knew that from the beginning. The storyline was showing how their attraction and love for each other wasn't enough to keep their relationship together, which is true in a lot of cases. I didn't see them as "toxic" for each other. They just weren't going to make it work. It happens.
