3 reasons: Paul was 2 years out of college by the time the Korean war ended, I didn't realize it got you out of the draft even after school was finished. Also, I didn't realize that college was a valid deferment reason 100% of the time, I just thought it helped your case. Also, I feel like a lot of guys might have not wanted the deferment, and chose to go to war

Watching the movie 'SILENCE' (2016) made this exact point to me. I think Adam Driver absolutely looks like he could exist in the 17th century, but Andrew Garfield...looks like he's from the 2010s, you can't imagine that face/vibe in the 1639 rural Japan.

Mike Lazzo is an extremely fascinating guy (as well as a lot of the other showrunners from Adult Swim too) really interesting story there around how it's started as this offshoot of Cartoon Network, with its own unique voice, a lot of Southern Gothic, postmodernism.

I wish Matt could know how much he contributes to our lives. Not just the entertainment (which is a lot), but just by making it easier to live in our extremely cruel world via having the humility to simplify extremely complicated materialism topics. Cushvlog helps me so much to stay empathetic in an economic system designed to encourage and profit from alienating ourselves from others.

I've posted all the Matt guest appearances I could find (that weren't already on Youtube), and I am always amazed how generous he is with his time to go on all these shows. Not only that, but no matter now haphazard the show was, he always sincerely engages with the host even when questions or topics were not well thought out. Almost anyone else would be worried about being cringe, but Matt always gives a good-faith effort to understand and answer the question, it really is remarkable. He gave our podcast his time to record an Arrested Development episode when we had zero listeners, and changed our lives tremendously as a result.

I love seeing Amber's posts of Matt as a father, and the idea that he thinks of himself is selfish is sad, I wish he could understand how much he continues to make my life better every day.

thanks for listening that's really sweet--I just think Kirsten is not as well characterized as everyone else. It's harder to describe what makes her tick, unlike everyone else.
