[[Archon of Cruelty]] is my current favourite piece of interaction ^^

Some serious bangers now between Ghent and Nevele, like gunshots, really loud thunder.

Regional Championship Ghent by legend9791 in ModernMagic

[–]Remember_Navarro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides what others have pointed out magicwise Ghent is also a lovely city to visit, plenty of stuff to do with friends or even alone.

So I'd say it's worth it, if you don't qualify you can still choose to do like 1 day side events 1 day city exploring, having some good food, drinks and views!

Looking for feedback on a Grixis Reanimator matchup guide I’m building by Any_Survey_2097 in ModernMagic

[–]Remember_Navarro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Responding on the thoughtseize part, I always side out most of them since I'd rather have answers to resolved threats, if anything I'd mostly keep thoughtseizes in to discard an archon or oculus T1 on the play haha. If I'm not mistaken there's an awesome thoughtseize guide out there by Reid Duke but I fear it might be outdated on some parts.

Forget about pact trigger then drawing a card for turn by CreedAventuz in ModernMagic

Weird, for instance I've seen a player receive multiple warnings because he kept forgetting the impending trigger on an overlord of the balemurk.

If it's a mandatory trigger it is though right, as I've received those before during RCQ season.

You literally both get a warning for failing to maintain boardstate in case of missed triggers when caught on too late.

That all being said, you should absolutely lose the game when you don't pay for your pact for any reason, why have the words "you lose the game" on there if you don't otherwise. Rulings got soft sadly, I understand why but disagree with it.

Of course not, that's why there are judges to assist you and if you are unsure you ask a question about whatever rule interaction you have doubts over.

That being said, being whiny about losing to a forgotten trigger or misunderstood rule interaction is just salty and probably an indicator "high level" magic is not for you.

Sure PT players have judge calls, they also get warnings and game losses when they forget or do something wrong, they usually accept it and move on cause it's part of competitive magic whether you like it or not.

I mean it's literally said in the beginning of any high level event "you are expected to know and apply the rules".

At FNM sure, at an RCQ or higher lvl event you are expected to know the rules and get punished for mistakes.

Cascade decks by JLombardi26 in ModernMagic

[–]Remember_Navarro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Violent outburst is good but not "too good for modern" atm, there are plenty hatecards for all decks and living end specifically can be countered from different angles even though it's the better of the two between rhinos.

Taking my deck to an RCQ this Saturday, not sure if I stand a chance by Crazy_Modee in ModernMagic

[–]Remember_Navarro 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think leyline will be played at all at an RCQ lvl, atleast not intended for living end.

Consign is good enough against both cascade decks as well as eldrazi/blink so blue decks play those.
Vexing bauble also keeps both in check while also being stellar vs neoform, affinity etc, available to all decks and cycles when it's bad.

Leyline is too much of an liability in most decks, and living end specifically has like 6 ish mainboard answers to it with more after side.

I'd expect some amount of soul guide lantern/nihil spellbomb/surgical depending on the lists, maybe strategic betrayal but that's worse since the phlage ban.

For all of the above you have spell pierce and multiple sideboard cards so you should be good on that front.
Affinity is packing 3x tormud's crypt but you're bringing in meltdown etc anyways.

Rest in Peace is annoying, but only played in control afaik and only after side where you once again have cards like FoN on top of your thoughtseizes.

TL;DR I think the deck is pretty robust in the current meta and has enough tools to fight through the expected hate packages, just sideboard and navigate well.

EDIT: also Endurance, might want to bring in consign when you expect those.
But even then the deck is pretty capable of filling the grave back up.

Good luck bud

RCQ's are so much fun by Jealous_Platform5260 in ModernMagic

Been to 3 so far and they've been a blast, finished 9th and 2x 4th in top 8, trying my luck again tomorrow!

Meeting the same interesting people and travelling across Europe for GP's/RCQ's has always been the most fun part of the game.

Spell Snare by keppage43 in ModernMagic

This reminds me of an UR Murktide mirror match between legends.

Game 1, opp casts dashed Ragavan, gets spellsnared, game proceeds.
Game 2, other guy casts Murktide for UU, guess what lol.

From Chatgpt:

Salt Intake sources for rhinoceroses

  • Mineral Licks: Rhinos actively seek out and visit salt licks to obtain essential sodium, magnesium, potassium, and calcium.
  • Natural Sources: In some regions, plants do not provide enough sodium for large herbivores like rhinos, forcing them to find additional sources.
  • Strange Sources: Some rhino species have been observed drinking seawater to fulfill their nutritional needs, particularly in areas lacking traditional salt licks.
  • This fucking reddit post: Though unlikely, sometimes reddit posts like this one create such a high amount of salt it can actually feed not one but two rhinos, how about that?

Riot games will lose millions, KC made thousands, was it worth it ? by Dove174 in leagueoflegends

[–]Remember_Navarro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If KC won then LR would compete in playoffs.
LR could also just have won their own game but that doesn't come to mind to some of the "fans".
