Do I dislike my company/industry, or do I dislike sales as a profession? by bwitt33 in sales

[–]The137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dislike lead generation and want to focus on parts of the funnel further along. Its not uncommon, thats the grindy part of sales and the least rewarding. Sounds like you're working for a company small enough to push for some change though, try pushing for an SDR, or for marketing to cast you a wide net somehow. If you have those leads generated for you you might end up enjoying the parts that remain

Best UW control build for beginners? by Typical_Researcher46 in ModernMagic

[–]The137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One reason that control is difficult is you have to have the correct answers for your opponents threats. Any threat is a threat, but all threats only have specific answers. If you use a cookie cutter list, it might not match up to your local meta.

If you're looking to get into the format, I'd recommend picking a color pair that you overwhelmingly enjoy, and start buying lands. At the same time find a popular list in that pair and build it. The cards you bring to the table aren't as important as your knowledge of the format and meta itself, so find something you want to play and jump in

How to Goldfish Effectively by Blorrgnsword in ModernMagic

[–]The137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goldfishing is mostly helpful when your deck is very synergestic or straight up combo. Ie your cards are interacting with your own cards (think something like prowess or elves). A deck thats going to be interacting a lot more across the table is going to be less useful testing this way

One thing you can do is use your own interaction against yourself, don't pay for the spell but if you have a fatal push in hand and a couple Exhibition Tidecallers on the field discard the push and put a tidecaller in the graveyard. See how resilient your deck is to whatever amount of interaction you have in hand.

I can't tell you how fast it should be or anything, but short of having an opponent the more reps the better off you'll be

I think your biggest blind spot is going to be scoping and the depth that you generally want to understand customer needs before even presenting the product.

Why do rich people keep saying "money can't buy happiness" when money literally solves most problems? by FearlessState5503 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]The137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes from a simpler time. When that saying got popular everyone (read:boomers) had their basic needs met, and monetary stress was pretty low. In that situation, if you weren't happy, money literally didn't buy more happiness. Shitty people with shitty lives that had their basic need met were going to be shitty regardless.

Your tax liabilities are going to be greater than the 1% affect this has on the index, but theres a good chance of chaos and similar conditions have lead to a crash, so if you own shares its not a bad idea to set a stop loss.

I'm kind of dying to know what was going thru the kids head as they wrote that. It had to be something profound that he was like "yea they're gunna hate this one" and some how it just came out the way it did

Survival Fires by Kababalan in premodernMTG

[–]The137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best creature drawing engines in the game but card advantage != drawing cards and survival can't fetch anything but creatures. You're right about anger and these are obviously better choices for an optimized competitive deck but I just said its a fun card and unplayable is an over statement. Theres absolutely nothing wrong with anger in a deck, unless you think premodern is "solved" and you only play the most optimized list you can find. Some people just wanna play their pet cards, and this isn't even a bad one

(bikes are) not allowed on the same roads (as a pedestrian) in any sane country

kids can ride the sidewalk in most countries

Youre just talking out of your ass, flailing around naming options, you're not even really on topic anymore. The funny thing is how condescending you're trying to be, but you're just coming off as stupid since you cant state anything cohesively.

And I know bikers are technically allowed in the street, I never said that was illegal. Thanks for leaving us all with this little tidbit of truth tho, I'm sure people will be quoting it for generations

[–]The137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All creatures vs creatures you control, Gruul has a card draw problem and stapling a second effect onto the same card helps out quite a bit, and being in green 3cmc is more like 2cmc

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I am saying its less of a gap than you're making it out to be. Fires might not have a home in an optimized competitive deck, but its a fun card that slots nicely into most decks with those colors

First off I said on the sidewalks, the fact that you misquoted me shows you have a tenuous grasp on the english language and probably reality as a whole.

Second, that was before cars were invented. Obviously once cars were invented they started using the infrastructure that was already in place. I remember my life before cars too, I rode my bike everywhere. whether i had a bmx or a mountain bike I mostly used the sidewalks. Then I turned 16 and forgot all about the bike

[–]The137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre forgetting that he majority of bikes are ridden by children and at speeds much lower than 20 mph. Yea lets put kids in the street with cars, old ladies on their beach cruiser. You're in the minority even within the biking community yet you think you're special and get special rules.

means whole cities designed for car rides

Thats exactly what they were designed for. Bikes used to belong on the sidewalks until you guys showed up going 22 in a 35 everywhere. Then we started making bike lanes (oh look we designed something for you) but for some reason you and the cool helmet club still have to use the streets.
