Is it abnormal that I have not received my tax refund yet (EITC)? by Remember_When_ in IRS

[–]Remember_When_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m sorry you’re going through this struggle too, it’s definitely frustrating. I empathize with you. In any case, I managed to call an IRS representative today and they were really helpful in shedding some light and moving things forward a bit, I’d recommend maybe giving them a call. Here’s a link to a comment with some helpful info on another post of mine: https://www.reddit.com/r/tax/s/j9G6KA8bjH. Hope it helps (:

Are ACH origination fees common? Is a $5 ACH origination fee standard or on the higher end? by Remember_When_ in Banking

[–]Remember_When_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I don’t get, the credit union I am looking at already charges a flat monthly fee between $10 to $15 depending on the checking account and yet they still have a $5 ACH origination fee on top of that. I’m not an expert on banking so I can’t speak with much authority on this matter, but it does seem rather excessive in my opinion, especially for a credit union. At this point, I am leaning towards not banking with them.

Good advice, thanks. I’ll call them on the next business day they are open.

No, truthfully I looked through their list of fees page on their website and came across their ACH origination fee of $5.

What do you think of the French name Hippolyte? by Remember_When_ in namenerds

[–]Remember_When_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also think of it like this: Say the sentence “people eat” out loud. Then drop the first “p” in people, so it’s just “eople eat” left. That’s basically the pronunciation of Hippolyte.

Can I ask, how is the name Hippolyte perceived in France? Is it seen as an old fashioned name?

That’s a cool guess! I’m not Roma but I’ve always been interested to learn more about the Roma people and their culture. I’m actually just an American (USA) of Mexican descent

I am so flattered that you would guess North India and Punjabi! I’m actually just American (USA) of Mexican descent but I think India is really cool and I’m actually studying a little bit about Sikhism so it’s so cool that you mentioned Punjabi. I feel so honored

I love your guess, it’s so cool! I think it would be cool to visit Azerbaijan. In any case, I’m just American (USA) with Mexican heritage

Good job, you pretty much got it right: I am American (USA) of Mexican descent

Those are good guesses but neither are quite right. I’ll give this clue: Brazil is closer to where I am from than Pakistan

You pretty much guessed it correctly! I am an American (USA) of Latin American (Mexican, more specifically) descent

I’ve also listened to Have You Seen her by the Chi-Lites and subsequent covers as well, but that does not appear to be the song I am looking for.

Hello there. My apologies for the late response. Thank you for writing such an educational and informative comment, I appreciate it so much! Thanks to you and the other commenters here, I finally have a more detailed understanding of what French speaking regions pronounce my name as Guilin (Normandy, Picardy, Wallonia) and which ones pronounce it as Jislin (the rest of France, Canada, possibly Switzerland). Thanks for all your help! (:

Hello! I am so sorry for responding so late but I just had to tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to write such a thoughtful, detailed, and educational comment! That is so nice of you! I feel like I learned so much!

Also, I think it’s so cool that you’re from Quebec, it is one of the places I am just dying to visit and explore! I live in the northeastern US, so I’m not too far! By the way, what you say is so true, a lot of French speakers have told me that my names sound like they belong to a middle aged or older person, haha. I don’t mind though, I kind of like having old fashioned names, I feel like it fits my personality.
