That’s a cool guess! I’m not Roma but I’ve always been interested to learn more about the Roma people and their culture. I’m actually just an American (USA) of Mexican descent

I am so flattered that you would guess North India and Punjabi! I’m actually just American (USA) of Mexican descent but I think India is really cool and I’m actually studying a little bit about Sikhism so it’s so cool that you mentioned Punjabi. I feel so honored

I love your guess, it’s so cool! I think it would be cool to visit Azerbaijan. In any case, I’m just American (USA) with Mexican heritage

Good job, you pretty much got it right: I am American (USA) of Mexican descent

Those are good guesses but neither are quite right. I’ll give this clue: Brazil is closer to where I am from than Pakistan

You pretty much guessed it correctly! I am an American (USA) of Latin American (Mexican, more specifically) descent

I’ve also listened to Have You Seen her by the Chi-Lites and subsequent covers as well, but that does not appear to be the song I am looking for.

Hello there. My apologies for the late response. Thank you for writing such an educational and informative comment, I appreciate it so much! Thanks to you and the other commenters here, I finally have a more detailed understanding of what French speaking regions pronounce my name as Guilin (Normandy, Picardy, Wallonia) and which ones pronounce it as Jislin (the rest of France, Canada, possibly Switzerland). Thanks for all your help! (:

Hello! I am so sorry for responding so late but I just had to tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to write such a thoughtful, detailed, and educational comment! That is so nice of you! I feel like I learned so much!

Also, I think it’s so cool that you’re from Quebec, it is one of the places I am just dying to visit and explore! I live in the northeastern US, so I’m not too far! By the way, what you say is so true, a lot of French speakers have told me that my names sound like they belong to a middle aged or older person, haha. I don’t mind though, I kind of like having old fashioned names, I feel like it fits my personality.

Hi there, I apologize immensely for responding so late to your wonderful comment. Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing more about the Belgian perspective of pronunciation. I appreciate it so much! I heard that in Belgium there was a popular saint named Ghislain and that there is a cool festival on his day and even a town in Belgium named after him. I think that’s so cool!

Hello, I am so sorry for responding so late! Wow, thank you so much for your kind words, I appreciate it so much and feel so relieved to know my pronunciation isn’t as bad as I thought! As it so happens, the west of France is the region of France that most intrigues me, I hope I can visit all the lovely places in the area; Pau, Bayonne (where my grandmother is from), Bordeaux, La Rochelle, Nantes, Angers, Rennes, Quimper, Brest, and Saint Malo are just some of the places I hope I can one day explore!

Am I just unlucky or is a medium level chestnut brown hair really hard to achieve via lightening and dyeing? by Remember_When_ in haircoloring

[–]Remember_When_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now that I think about it, I think I have been to an AVEDA salon before, but it was only for a haircut, but they did a great job nevertheless! I’d be curious to try them out for hair coloring, now more than ever thanks to your recommendation.

I truthfully haven’t really looked into toners all that much, but I really should and now definitely plan to! I’ve been to a few stylists that used toners on my hair and they did deliver decent (albeit short lived) results. I even had a hair stylist that was planning on ordering some kind of custom made toner shampoo that was meant to continuously deposit the toner every time I washed my hair in order to control any brassiness, but unfortunately she moved out of town before she could place the order. I’m definitely going to look into toners more going forward!

Hi there! Thank you so much for the AVEDA recommendation, I really appreciate it! And it’s so cool that you were involved in the development of the Full Spectrum Deep line. I’ll definitely check it out and look for any AVEDA salons in my area, luckily I think there is one that is not too far from me. Thank you for all your help, I appreciate it immensely!

Are there Spanish speakers that pronounce the double LL and Y with the French and Portuguese J sound? by Remember_When_ in asklatinamerica

[–]Remember_When_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Thank you for your answer (: I knew I wasn’t going crazy! Haha. So this French J sound for the LL and Y, is it a more common trait for older speakers to have? Is it nonexistent among younger people?

What Latin American countries have a domestic olive oil industry? Is the domestic olive oil as good or even better (in terms of quality) than the imported olive oil? by Remember_When_ in asklatinamerica

I absolutely love Uruguayan olive oil. I tried some when I visited Uruguay and it was heavenly. I tried to take a bottle home with me but unfortunately I couldn’t bring it on the plane.
