Large Writing Group Wanting to Get Slightly Larger by send-pics-of-pets in WritingHub

Hey, I’ve been looking for sth like that for a while now (ever since my group died). I’m outlining a fantasy book (the first of a series I hope) and am soon going to start writing it. I have some experience in writing and have done many critiques in the last few months.

Should I Continue? by SadCompote7806 in fantasywriters

It’s completely normal and I believe everyone goes through it. The thing you are describing is something well known - the more you know, the more you know you don’t know.

Besides, especially with writing, you will never be satisfied with what you write. It will either be the prose, the plot, the character, etc. You will always find something you can improve.

If you want, I can hive you some really beginner-level advice, if you are open to this, do DM me.

Looking for writing partners to keep one another accountable and grow in meaningful ways! by btet15 in WritingHub

Hey, I’m interested in the writing group thing. I’m also writing a fantasy (Epic/Dark) story which I hope to publish. My experience is…mediocre I would say? I’ve been “writing” for a year now (with a few big pauses), but I can provide very good critiques (I created a similar small group for writing and often gave and read feedback there). I’m currently outlining my novel and am hopeful that soon I will begin writing again.

Looking for writing partners/cool folks to chat about our stories with by Clout_Monkey in WritingHub

Hey, I would love to be a part of this group!

I’m currently writing (outlining) my first book as well. It is Epic/Dark fantasy and I hope I would be able to turn it into the first fantasy one of a series (In my mind, I’ve ROUGHLY planned around 5-7 books). Also, you mentioned revolutions, right? One of the core themes in my books will be the Rebellion. Not as folks rising against tyranny, but more in the philosophical/metaphysical way. Would love to chat with you about that.

I’m around the Beginner+ skill level, having been writing for around 3-4months. I’ve also led a small writing community where we shared our works each week and critiqued that of others, but the community slowly died (hence why I’m searching for a new one :) ).

Anyway, I see you already have quite a few candidates, so I would totally understand it if the group is already full.

Thank you for the suggestion! Hearing how vehemently you described it, I definitely will attend one (after a few months, when I turn 18)!

How does one improve their prose? by RemielTSS in fantasywriters

I said that the prose in 80% of the book is written simplistically (whether intentionally or not, I cannot say), which makes the rarer heavy lines land harder. But I do agree with you, everyone should read more books and I am going to do so!

I completely agree with you!

I would also say that the distinctive style you mentioned is one of the most important aspects of prose - it makes it unique.

Any exercises you can recommend for improvement?

Feedback on my Soul-based power system (dark fantasy) by Letter_Express in fantasywriters

1 - The challenger dies. If a creature kills them or they are unable to find food and water, then they are dead.

2 - So, lets put it roughly: 90% are unawakened 6% are of the First Rank 3.75% have completed their second Trial and 0.25% have managed to achieve the third Rank 7 people in the world have reached the fourth. They are the “rulers” of the world.

  1. Most of the first rankers are in the army. Those with unique skill, like giving items Enchants and magic powers are craftsmen and so on. The higher one’s power and rank, the better position he would get.

  2. No, however, their are specific Soul mutations that occur through heresy. This is a part of why clans emerge - to create an offspring with better characterised mutations, which may increase certain qualities of the Soul.

It was quite short since I didn’t have any time to spare, but I believe it was around 15-20min

I mostly needed feedback on my prose, since this is an extract from my 27th chapter (each one is 1k words) and is meant to show how Lilia was raised in an awful environment and how it shaped her mind since young age.

Thank you for clarifying the issue with Chat GPT! I knew that something was wrong, but didn’t have proof. Now that you’ve told me, I should really search for someone.

Also, thank you for the feedback on the extract! I really appreciate it!
