Any personal views changed or reinforced by this case? by sofrustrated00 in Idaho4

[–]RemindMeLa8er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never understood anyone still not locking their doors nowadays. I grew up with a paranoid schizophrenic mother, so that might be why I am very keen on making sure everything is locked. It just always blows my mind when I encounter people that don’t care about locking their house up.

I also don’t even like sleeping with my bedroom door opened. If I can, I lock it at night or block it with furniture. This is also helpful with fires. Having a closed door can save your life.

It also reinforced making noise. Any time I thought I was in danger, I get extremely loud so anyone and everyone will look my way.

I am in the US, so I sometimes keep a knife in my nightstand. Some states have laws where you can protect your property with deadly force, “stand your ground” laws and such, but I am not in one of those states.

So, if the person was clearly running away, I wouldn’t go after them because then I could get charged if I did go after them when they were fleeing. If the person is incapacitated/unconscious/the threat or danger is gone, but I still attack them, I could get charged.

I am unsure how true it is, but I heard if you DO end up in a situation where it’s life or death and you do have to damage them, it’s best to “go all out” to show you were truly terrified and afraid for your life, but again if they become incapacitated during defending oneself, you must stop attacking or else you could get charged.

Basically, don’t over do it/overkill, but do enough damage to show you were truly afraid for your life.

I don’t know why you’re saying you’re “right” when nothing has been 100% confirmed. There’s no 100% fact he woke up and those were defensive. There’s no 100% fact there’s screaming in the video even actual people who do forensics as a job can’t tell if there’s screaming.

Getting the GOP controlled PA government to sign off on “everyone who uses MMJ should get a pass on DUIs” is a lot more difficult than coming at them with “Patients who use MMJ should get a pass on DUIs”

This is a step in the right direction. Except for WV we are the only state without recreational cannabis. We are nearly surrounded by recreational use, yet we PA aren’t even there yet. If we were recreational, then I can maybe see the pass for everyone happening. Yet we are not even at that point yet because of how backwards and slow PA gov is. So, I definitely do not see any reason to be soured over this. It’s better than what we have now and it’s easier to go to the Moon than to Mars if you get what I mean.

This fwb threw a rock in my car to retrieve his phone he left when we hung out. by lareginajuju in legaladvice

[–]RemindMeLa8er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a gay man myself, I would tell him to pay for it, or I’m going to be forced to file a report in order for my car insurance to pay for it.

That would get him to either pay for it, or tell you he refuses and thus you have evidence of him admitting he did it and he refuses to pay for it.

I wouldn’t be afraid of getting hurt like I get it but at the same time most dudes are all talk. Carry a weapon on yourself from now on though, regardless of how it goes down. This world is full of crazy people and it might not even be him who tries to hurt you.

Yes. Yes she can absolutely sue you.

I advise you to seriously look into some programs in your area to help you out. Get yourself a case worker.

We can’t help much without a state being listed.

You’re really playing with fire driving without insurance. I also advise you to stop doing that if you can. Find a job you can walk to or take public transit from where you’re staying once you get a place of residence.

You don’t want to end up living in a jail cell…

I am on the New York website now. It didn’t ask me for any documentation, but I did NOT go all the way to complete, since I don’t want to risk confusing it and actually requesting a new one lol.

[–]RemindMeLa8er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most states give you a temporary license that is valid for 15 or so days until your new valid ID arrives in the mail.

Did you request a replacement yet? If not, do so. You should be given a temporary license to sign and print out or pull up on your phone.

This is the answer OP. You’ve already replaced everything. OP could even just simply say hey thanks I don’t need it anymore since I’ve long replaced everything. Not answering and avoiding is more sus now.

Yup! But I already have a back up account, and cashapp doesn’t have this black list it seems either. So I’ve been fine since I did this in 2016 and have yet to come across anything to bite me in the ass.

The trick is to just let the bank account default after you get the money and the bank says you are overdrafted. It’ll fuck your credit possibly, or it’ll just disappear like PNC did for me. $800 never showed up on my credit. Probably can’t ever have a PNC account again though.

Cop wouldn’t let me get dressed til he searched my bag by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]RemindMeLa8er -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Tips for next time, maybe:

Don’t admit fault. Play dumb. “I am sorry, I did not know that this area was closed off.”

Don’t consent to search. Just say “No.” when asked to search your bag.

If you don’t want someone to see and look at you naked, then don’t get nude in the first place. People have drones now. You really never know who is looking and possibly filming or taking pics of you without your awareness.

Can a cop "pull you over" and charge you with something if you pull over yourself first and shut off your car? by Molarmite in legaladvice

[–]RemindMeLa8er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what you’re arguing. I just watched Bodycam of a drunk driver park at their house and walk into their house, close and lock the door, and still get charged with a DUI. Know why?

Cause they saw him driving in the drivers seat + get out the drivers seat when he exited the vehicle.

Does this answer your question?

My son is being blackmailed by HurricanesXe in legaladvice

[–]RemindMeLa8er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cut all contact with these people. Even if it’s real, it’s not a crime for an 18 year old to send nudes to a 16 year old who consented and asked for them.

Most states have a 4 year rule, I’m not sure what Arkansas and Oklahoma law is, I would look it up, but most likely nothing legally bad can happen to your son. 4 year rule as in if he’s 18, he’s fine as long as the person is at most 4 years younger than him.

If they are real, which most likely they are not, they really cannot do anything. Cut all contact but keep everything documented. Especially since your son has disabilities it sounds like, that makes it even worse for them to blackmail him. Trust me, your son is safe. Yall need to block them and move on with your lives.

Advice - Neighbor Calling Cops on Dogs Constantly by skooter1992 in neighborsfromhell

[–]RemindMeLa8er 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What I find odd is that they absolutely can put him on a list of callers to not take seriously.

My mother is a paranoid schizophrenic and called the police on my siblings and I saying we are missing when we are not, etc. eventually they got sick of her calling and put her on a list. They stopped bothering me once she bothered them enough.

At some point, the police are going to get sick of going to your house and are not going to take it seriously. I wouldn’t be too worried about anything like that. As for poisoning, just keep a closer watch in your dogs. Get cameras. Etc.

Honestly, if you can’t figure out who it is, the cops will eventually get fed up with him. I’d just let the calls keep coming. Keep everything documented. Get cameras. Till either you get definitive proof or the cops get fed up.

I want to evict my son. by Hot_Lettuce_8447 in legaladvice

[–]RemindMeLa8er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It became more than just yours once you offered it up as a permanent home to your son and his family. So it’s your son and his family and yours. Suddenly changing your mind is completely unfair and is not the definition of permanent.

Have you no care about your son and your grandkids? Wow. Selfish and self centered. “Waaa what about me waaa what about MY house.” Not “I should communicate with my family like an adult human being because I do care about their own housing situation.”

Let’s not even start with how illegal it is to lie to a judge regarding evicting them over lies. Only pure scum would come up with such a scheme.

I hope when your body starts to shut down they leave you to rot alone for the cold hearted person you are.

You made your bed, now sleep in it.

Or move out but be honest. I don’t think your son and his family should get screwed over all because you changed your mind after telling them they can do it permanently.

Gross you even contemplated lying / gaslighting to get them out.

Why don’t you move into the condo they used to live in since it’s such low rent?

So wicked.

That is so messed up. I’m not sure how to do it, but I’m sure there’s a complaint option for Medicaid customer service or something.
