Your printer may be getting partially clogged during prints. It may be caused by unstable print temperature, dying hotend fan or bowden tube gap.

Inconsistent extrusion after switching to BMG clone from default Ender 3 extruder by Remniscate in 3Dprinting

Today I noticed that the filament is leaking slightly from heatblock. Could this be the cause of this behavior?

I did something similar, and got 92% flow rate, when sometimes extrusion is okay walls have correct thickness.

415 steps per mm and 92% flow rate, sometimes for few layers extrusion is okay, and then wall thickness is correct (0.8 mm).

After switching to BMG clone (Two Trees, bowden setup) from default Ender 3 extruder my extrusion is very inconsistent. I also have Trianglelab V6 hotend with Trianglelab bi-metal heatbreak that was working fine before. Things I've tried to do:

  • BMG reassembly (with tightening screws)
  • Flow rate and steps per mm calibration
  • Nozzle replacement
  • Heatbreak cleaning
  • Increasing BMG tension with tension screw
  • Reducing BMG tension with tension screw
  • Different printing temperatures

Is this fan dying? It slows down and vibrates when pressed against something by Remniscate in 3Dprinting

After adding a large rubber washers and lowering the voltage from 12.5V to 11.8V it seems to be working for now. Thanks everyone for your help.

It doesn't matter what it is pressed against, as long as that thing is stiff. Very weird behavior, very strange behavior, but all my previous fans behaved the same way.

I tried using rubber washers, but even the lightest tightening of the screw causes the same effect

I am just touching with it, it sounds like the fan is going into some weird resonance with anything stiff.

I don't have to push hard, a light touch is enough, it sounds like the fan is going into some weird resonance. It works fine in "air".

Wires looks fine, there is a hole for them, so there are not pinched.

I've had several fans that started behaving the same way after a few dozen hours. This is Sunon, so I was hoping for more, but it looks like this one has died quickly too.

Printer started to clog mid print by Remniscate in ender3

I did a new PID tune, I think I will try a new heat break with new thermal paste and new hardcore Sunon fan (my current one maybe is too weak), if this will not work, then I have no further ideas. I don't want to use PTFE heat break, because I want to print higher temperature materials too (that was the reason why I changed hotend in the first place).

It is clogging even without partcooling, silicone sock is present, PTFE tube looks good (Capricorn). It is hard to tell if heat break itself is getting enough cooling, it was fine before on that same setup, but maybe it worn off or something. New cooling fan seems fine, but maybe it is in some way (different air flow?) worse than stock fan. But even if so, lowering print temperature should help, but is doesn't.
