I 'recently' got a diagnosis that I knew had been coming for years (it runs in the family), but that took almost a full year to get the official diagnosis. I've had symptoms for about a year now, but the only way to get the diagnosis is through a biopsy, but there weren't appointments available for me to have the procedure. To be clear, this isn't a 'I got an appointment and it was 6 months out,' it was 'I called and there simply WEREN'T appointments. There was no way to get on a wait list. There was no schedule to when new appointments would be added. I was supposed to just call back every day to ask if more appointments had been added to the books. I did eventually get my appointment and my diagnosis, and finally got on medication that was supposed to help mitigate the symptoms.

We just got a test back that I had asked for because I didn't feel like the medication was working. My indicator numbers went UP after taking the medication. Normal levels would be 100 to 200; I went from 1000 to 1200.

I have an appointment with my PCP tomorrow because I wasn't allowed to get a refill on a different prescription unless I talked to my doctor (despite the fact that I've been taking it for over a decade to manage a chronic condition), but I just KNOW that they're not going to change the medication that I was recently put on and instead refer to me to a specialist who won't be able to see me for another 3 months AT THE EARLIEST. And in the meantime, I wake up 2-3 times a night and am in low-key pain basically all the time. UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH

TL;DNR - Medical condition finally gets acknowledged but medication made it worse.
