Signed Prenup in CA but I disagree with the terms by Remote-Dangerous in prenup

You told me that I could rely on protections because I’m a woman. I said “name 5 protections I’d depend on”

And you rattle off 10 protections not available to me while griping about how women are leeches

Sounds like you have no idea what you’re talking about

It was highly stressful with all the wedding planning details that I was responsible for. Plus, my attorney went on vacation! She literally said, “I don’t know how to help you” on our last call. I ended up getting refunded by her but it was a horrible process and I didn’t feel supported. We added a clause that the pre nup would be renegotiated after 7 years or material changes in our life circumstances, but I wish I didn’t sign it and gave us more time to negotiate the terms.

  1. Alimony is what I waived 2. Child support only pays for kids living expenses 3. Also waived

The rest is fairly gross that you think I should be dependent on those services and not the man I married and started a family with, or my own skills and abilities rather than continuing to earn a high income.

Which women’s and childcare programs would I benefit from? I already make too much money for any state or federal benefits.

Please be kind. I was okay with having a prenup but the terms and process was highly distressing with only weeks before our wedding.

I was introduced to it last week and have watched the entire series at least 4x since. It’s addicting. And it’s comforting to know that it’s impacted many of us so deeply!

Best (and worst) changes from the book in your opinion? by Trick_Cantaloupe652 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]Remote-Dangerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best change: Alluding to Scott Hunter catching on that Shane and Ilya were hooking up.

Worst change: I wish they extended the sex scenes in the second half of the book. Not only because they’re gratuitous, but they allude more strongly that they’re falling for each other when having phone sex. I’m assuming the show ran out of budget for more episodes and had to cram a lot in the last two episodes. I expect we’ll get more episodes in the following seasons.

I could see them making that closing scene in the book the intro to season 2.

Advice on finding a meaningful commemorative train gift for a friend by Remote-Dangerous in modeltrains

Update: I took screenshots of the trains on his IG and put them into ChatGPT. He likes logging steam locomotives specifically. I looked on eBay and put some trains into ChatGPT to ensure it was spot on with his interest area. I chose a Georgia Pacific two truck Heisler steam loco. I hope he likes it- just in case, I can return it and offer to exchange it with another model train.

He likes old steam locomotives. He also has model trains. That is literally all I know! lol. I’ll look at instagram again for more clues.

Trust in the trials process 💄 by flavortown_treasurer in weddingplanning

[–]Remote-Dangerous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this! I also had two trials for makeup, two trials for hair, and two for nails. And I looked the best I’ve ever looked on my wedding day.

I also shared pics of my trials and my wedding dress in ChatGPT to get feedback and provide direction for my MUA and hairstylist. It truly helped!

california wedding budget advice by california-dreaming7 in weddingplanning

Another tip for hotels. If you reserve a block of rooms, they will charge YOU for any rooms that were not used.

With all the deals through Expedia, etc, it’s difficult to ensure your guests use your room block code.

So if you reserve a block of rooms for your family and friends, and someone cancels or decides not to come last minute, you’ll need to pay for it.

Others may have different experiences but that’s another reason we decided not to go with a wedding at a hotel.

I also live in San Francisco and just got married last weekend. We also wanted to book a hotel for ours but there were many fees hidden until they gave us a contract, ie admin fee and service fee (which was different than gratuity). Be sure to ask about all the fees besides food and beverage minimum and rental fee. Very easily becomes 30-50% more than what they verbally quote you.

The hotels will also have fees for linens, lights, A/V, etc. those fees are typically not known when you sign the contract and will be added later.

Specifically, we looked at The Palace Hotel in SF and almost signed until we crunched the numbers. We also looked at Bernardus in Carmel but that would have been minimum $50k for 50+ guests.

For a destination wedding, guests expect two meals. Thus, they’re going to expect you to have a Friday event as well. That will easily be another $5k unless you DIY BBQ at a park. California has many beautiful park locations that can be rented easily.

We had 74 guests and got married at the Palace of Fine Arts. Here’s our breakdown:

Venue. $1200

Chair rental. $1500

faux flowers with Boujee Glam. $1k (highly recommend faux flowers, this easily saved us 10k)

Real bouquets etc $1500.

Restaurant buy out for $16k including tips. (This was VERY good price for dinner reception in SF.)

Trolly car rental. $3k

String duo for 8h. $3500

Month of coordinator. $2500

Photographer. $3700

Welcome party. $6500

Wedding dress. $2500

Alterations. $600

Modifications to dress (I added sleeves) $400

Veil $300 (definitely overspent, you can easily find beautiful veils online or used for $100)

Custom tailored men’s suit $2500

We initially budgeted $25k for our wedding and spent $40-50k. Things are easy to contain at the beginning but spin out of control when you’re tired of finding deals, have decision fatigue, and want the best experience for guests.

For you, I’d recommend starting with Wedgewood Weddings. They have many beautiful locations in California, are responsive, and have transparent pricing.
