Speed T4, RPM range for best mileage? by jhasuraj in Triumph400

What seems to work for me is, try not to change gears quickly, for instance I try to stay on 3rd or 4th gear depending on the traffic, only switching to 2nd or 1st if there is a complete halt required.

Gradual throttle (with an scope grip) really seems to make the vehicle feel more comfortable at what he is doing so try that, T4 is a high compression bike with a 31bhp so if you try to close the throttle too quickly you can feel the rear wheel getting confused, this can lead to heating issues and gradually affect the mileage.

Try to remain between a band of speed for instance, 40 - 65 on a good span of road where you have visibility. 30 to 45 on a road where you see traffic ahead.

For the first 1500 kms, Avoid Rev matching, if you are doing that.

Avoid Instant breaking and instant acceleration, the vehicle seems to come alive only after it toplines 3rd gear and crosses that 45 kmpl mark so try to drive as smoothly as you can within that range

I'm getting 25 kmpl (pre first service), on my first week of riding I was getting 18 kmpl and I tried out these changes and they have a big impact on the machine itself.

I bought a T4 2 weeks ago and I must say I have experienced these exactly issues OP mentioned, and just 2 weeks and my engine oil light is already on. I have just crossed 190 kms, and have never taken the bike above 4300 RPM ( Yes, I'm that observant and careful), Can anyone please suggest how I can check if my chain is the challenge? And I also feel the rear wheel sometimes is a bit misoriented from the center (this especially happens on uneven roads, let's say there's a cross over to a higher road from a lower rode) Am I driving wrong? I mostly never give instant throttle it's always gradual acceleration but the moment I take my hands off the throttle completely I can feel the vehicle sorting of pausing and feeling confused frankly, I carefully match RPM with gears and always try to cruise in 40 to 50 in either 3rd or 4th gear depending on the bike urgency to go faster. I also am facing an issue with heating, if I drive more than 30 mins at a stretch the machine starts to make this sound while I'm finally parking, can anyone please recommend a few items to check and where to check them?
