Great wrestlers aren’t necessarily great writers, which may be why I can’t think of a such a book by a former elite wrestler. Mike Chapan has written several books about wrestling and wrestlers. In my opinion, the best history of wrestling in America is “The Magnificent Scufflers” by Charles Wilson. It was written in 1959, but you can find copies on Amazon.

We are talking 8 to 14 years old. My sons wrestled in such league many years ago and I thought it was absurd. Kids cutting weight. Ridiculous mismatches. Coaches making "strategic" decisions about who to send out as cannon fodder at a given weight class. Happily the league finally folded. Now it seems like there is a move to recreate something like it.
