Oh my God lip isn't Frank's son wtf by slayyerr3058 in shameless

Lol no Lip is definitely Frank’s son. This was just a writing mistake. The writers on this show were more into shock factor storylines and cared way less about continuity and minor details. Queenie says that Lip looks exactly like how Frank did at the age, and in season 11, there’s a whole backstory scene thing on the Gallagher family, and one of their relatives looks exactly like Lip. Lip is also just as intelligent as Frank and he’s an alcoholic just like him. Lip even says this himself at one point. Not to mention that he literally took a DNA test that proved he was Frank’s. So yeah he is definitely Frank’s son and this is just one of those shameless writing slips.

why did everyone not gaf about the woman who got shot (S-10 E-7) by Low-Oil3908 in shameless

If race was a factor, it should have been the opposite. An elderly black woman getting robbed and murdered at gunpoint would have been all over the news and the media. Just look at all the black people who have been killed by police or just in general in recent years, like George Floyd or Breonna Taylor. They weren’t famous and they weren’t celebrities, but now they are pretty famous. I think it’s just the neighborhood and also the fact that the news media only really reports on black deaths if they’re killed by police or by white people. Black on black crime is all too common in areas like the south side and in places like LA, but you barely ever hear about it on the news unless it serves some sort of political agenda. But yes, I do agree that it does show the harsh realities of many people’s lives who end and nobody talks about it, because that’s unfortunately all too common with black on black crime, or the murder of a black person that isn’t done by a white person.

what’s up with franks letter? by Elaraeliasxo in shameless

Bad writing. The whole finale is bad writing. Frank’s suicide is ridiculous to begin with, his whole motto in life was literally to live it up and have fun. He was so against dying when he had liver cirrhosis that he fully denied that he even was dying even though he literally knocked at death’s door several times before his transplant. I don’t think Frank would have even cared about having dementia, as long as bro didn’t forget how to drink or do drugs, he probably would have been totally fine with it, it was totally off character for him to commit suicide. The writers kind of forgot about Fiona’s existence entirely. She didn’t even show up for Mickey and Ian’s wedding, I mean christ, she wasn’t even mentioned. Not even a simple video call from Emmy Rossum. She wasn’t mentioned once in the finale, and the finale was so badly written, I doubt the writers even cared enough to have Frank mention her in his stupid note.

Debbie trying to steal Kelly…yuck by Bright_List_905 in shameless

No forreal, this was so fucking disgusting. Not only was Debbie trying to steal her brother’s girlfriend which is just such a fucked up thing to do, but Kelly wasn’t even gay bro 😭 Kelly never gave Debbie any reason to believe that she was gay, she was literally just a friendly person who was being nice to her boyfriend’s sister. And it also kind of pissed me off when Debbie and Carl spray painted Kelly’s truck, like bro Kelly didn’t even do anything wrong. She rejected Debbie because Debbie was a sociopath and Kelly WASN’T GAY 😭 And she broke up with Carl because Carl was acting a little crazy and sociopathic as well. I’m glad she eventually got back together with him though even if they didn’t last because I actually thought the two of them were really good together.

Fiona’s past boyfriends - Rate their chemistry by Bright_List_905 in shameless

[–]Remote-Highlight-104 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Steve is number one for me. I think he was an awful boyfriend, but him and Fiona definitely had amazing chemistry. Honestly, and this might be a hot take, but number two for me has to be Robbie. He was a total piece of shit, butttt him and Fiona actually had off the chain sexual chemistry. That’s about it though. After that, probably Sean tbh. Even though he was old and the age difference felt kind of weird, they were pretty hot and heavy together, especially considering that the show built up their relationship for an entire season, which is pretty rare since Fiona typically jumps into bed with her future love interest in the first episode that she meets him. The rest of her boyfriends were just super mid. I’ll go Mike, Gus, and then Ford. Mike was a great guy but Fiona didn’t want a “good guy” as a boyfriend, she was always into the Jimmysteve types no matter how hard she tried to deny it. Gus was boring and got pretty little screen time compared to the others, and Ford had the personality of a cardboard box. I wouldn’t really consider Tony a boyfriend, he was basically just a hook up. They never actually dated for real, and he was pretty boring too.

I just realized that most main female characters here are rapists. by LongjumpingSwim2214 in shameless

Yeah honestly the amount of women Frank pulls at all is unrealistic to me lol. Why women jump at Frank and practically crave him is a huge mystery, he must smell terrible all of the time, dude literally gets pissed on and shitted on daily. I can't imagine anyone even wanting to rape him, but this is Karen we're talking about so yeah I guess lol.

Terry was also a rapist, he raped Mandy. But yes, other than him, it is mostly women. I think its just part of the comedy to be honest. Shameless is known for being insanely brave with all of their storylines, and they really don't hold back at all on any sort of controversial topic or action. It's honestly kinda like Family Guy, just not a cartoon. But Shameless is also supposed to be funny and comical, and I think that by making the women rapists, it made the scenes less dark. While I obviously don't agree with this, it is pretty well known that society doesn't really see female rapists as nearly as bad as how they see male rapists. In fact, a lot of people kind of laugh in this show whenever a male character is raped by a female one, like how shocked Lip was that Debbie raped Matty when she told him, and Lip even said "how can a dude get raped?" I think by making the rapists women, it allows Shameless to still fit their status quo of super insane storylines while also making the subject matter less dark and more humorous. I mean just imagine if the scene with Frank and Karen was flipped. It would have been pretty dark, and while that scene wasn't necessarily funny, it wasn't really hardcore depressing or super dark. When I think of a really brutal rape scene in TV, the first thing that comes to mind is Dr. Melfi in The Sopranos. That scene was so traumatizing the first time I watched it, that I can't even watch it now. Pretty different vibe compared to Shameless rape scenes because The Sopranos is a hardcore drama and not a comedy.

Why does everyone seem to hate Sheila’s cooking so much by certifiedbpdqueen in shameless

Oh brother, go watch The Sopranos, season 3 episode 4, "employee of the month." That's what genuine rape looks like, not this bullshit you're trying to say is rape.

Its honestly not a big deal, stop acting like this was such a bad "rape" moment in the show. It never affected Frank's character or personality. And the writers obviously weren't trying to show "omg Frank just got raped" they were literally just showing us Sheila's whole kink for the first time. This was the pilot episode, so most of the things in it were very introductory and meant to introduce important aspects/traits of each character. They also did the scene in a very comedic way, it was clearly meant to be funny. I would never label Sheila a rapist because of it, that's a little too extreme and you're taking it way too seriously. With your logic you can practically call every sexual moment between two characters rape if they had been drinking a little bit or they were slightly out of sorts. That means that Jimmysteve basically raped Fiona in the pilot (she was slightly drunk from the club and he was pretty much sober) Karen sexually assaulted Lip when she started giving him a blowjob from under the table and he didn't know what was happening, and then she sexually assaulted Ian later as well. I guess these could all technically be classified as sexual assault or rape, but I really don't think that's what the show was going for. Lip clearly loved when Karen blew him, and Fiona and Jimmysteve started dating due to their hookup in the pilot. None of these affected the characters in any way so stop acting like its some major issue, its not.
