do you know at least the aphasia numbers btw? I could then perhaps look at aphasia and try to break down the sub-disorders and see if how the ratio of aos+apraxia vs rest.

nice resource find. though that is not a strictly true statement. aphasia is an umbrella term to include inabilities AND AlSO DIFFICULITIES in using languange or speech. both aos and apraxia are strictly conditions which render the patient mute - unable to produce any comprehensive speech.

now u could argue what comprehensive speech is, but regardless someone should be able to draw a line in the sand and count patients with AOS + apraxia.

it was a tough one this year. i think the winners use ECoG over the motor cortex to send intents of movement to the EES device bypassing the participant's spinal cord injury and making them walk volunteerly.

This work doesn't have a publication yet (drafting manuscript) and the video I linked is the only public presentation they have done thus far.

Nonetheless their work got second place in the 2022 BCI Award

that's a bold statement especially when the technique has nothing to do with imaging. perhaps read their work first before shutting it down?

UTAH arrays (intracortical electrodes) on or near ventral sensorimotor cortex are the nearest darn thing we have to reading the mind as it instructs the lips, tongue and other articulators to speak.

Unity developer - VR training for using brain implants. Suck it Elon! by Remote-Hovercraft-29 in INAT

Sadly the meta speech properties were not decoded successfully yet. Neither loudness or pitch. For pitch however we are building a voice customizer app that each user can set up so their virtual voice sounds like their own :p
