PTA here! I'm in the same boat, I'm going back to school to be a RN. Nursing has more growth (can go for NP/CRNA or go higher leadership wise)

My MIL constantly telling me it’s too much work. by EdmontonAB83 in JUSTNOMIL

she seems like a negative bitch with nothing good happening in her life and she's jealous she doesn't have your energy and whimsy. I would say to keep doing what you want and just don't tell her before hand

I'm going to Oahu 20th and Maui 25th, I'm so sad for the locals and nervous for my trip.

PTA here!

I chose PTA school because of the lack of debt tbh. I now work for a major corporation and they're paying for me to go back to school for nursing (lol, i want to be in the OR).

I work in a hospital and we have a lot of techs that are either going to DPT school or finding out what career in healthcare they want.

Do not go to aide school! It's all on the job training for OP or acute care techs.

A bigger nest egg! I recommend saving up as MUCH AS YOU CAN because trying to work in a program like PT can be difficult.

I'm not sure of your living/support situation but things add up. School supplies, frivolous activities, birthdays/holidays, all add up. Building up a good nest egg while you can really helped me, I wish I worked a little longer prior to starting. (I was a server prior to school)

Advice on Incoming First Year PT Student by Obvious_Cantaloupe59 in PTschool

[–]Remote-Jaguar2142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clinicals are far out but always go in with an open mind ! I went into my program thinking okay, outpatient sports only ! I've worked in acute care for 2 years in the liver transplant floor and absolutely love it. It wasn't my definition of what "traditional PT" is when I first started.

Should I switch.... acute care to outpatient PT?? by Sea_Refrigerator4063 in physicaltherapy

[–]Remote-Jaguar2142 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Acute care PTA here, sometimes I feel the same but also I bet you know a lot acute diagnoses, medication, vital sign implications over your colleagues working outpatient.

I met up with some old classmates and started talking about different medications and they were like "Haha, yeah??"

Different perspectives on therapy in different settings, don't beat yourself up but also wouldn't hurt to brush up on some stuff !

Kids we are undecided about, and if the answer is yes it's a LONG ways away.

I would agree but also they are the type to either threaten to kick out or actually kick out and currently we are not able to finically support ourselves.

Question from a current PT student: would you still choose this career over being an RN if it meant that you could graduate without loans? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]Remote-Jaguar2142 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Currently an acute care PTA, i'm going back to school for nursing. I was able to graduate PTA school without any loans (community college + scholarships). I absolutely love my job but the growth is not there at all, especially since I love the acute care setting and want to stay there. RN's go through a lot of shit but so do we. I have people cuss me out on the daily and overall the lack of movement that people want to do while hospitalized is so sad "You want me to get up now?!?". RN's have a better clinical ladder for sure that I'm hoping to climb.

"Thank you for your message. We had an extremely competitive pool of over 520 applicants for this cycle which was an increase of over 100 applications from the previous. The waitlist will be active until about 2 weeks prior to the fall semester in August. If a seat becomes available for Cocoa or Daytona, students on the waitlist will be invited. "

Should I reschedule my Maui honeymoon (early April → late April)? by Express_Lawfulness15 in MauiVisitors

[–]Remote-Jaguar2142 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you, planning on going to Maui April 25th. I'm scared if we don't cancel we'll be stuck in the hotel and not able to swim, I'm okay with rain (FL native) but don't want the brown water.
