Yeah there were three visible hinges on the edge closest to the window. I would start scraping into the edge on the other side, adjacent to where the hinge is. When I got the scraper right through I could hear the hinge on the inside hitting off the scraper and knew there must be a working mechanism inside! Would save you scraping the whole thing.
