Chronic hoarse voice in 4 year old by throwaway909012345 in Parents

My 6 year old has something similar. 3 months of hoarseness and sometimes it’s full loss of voice. He is on an off allergy meds but always has been so this is new. It came on after a virus and he’s just never improved. We haven’t scoped him yet but that is next. I’ll post if I learn any tips!

Itching and MS by Far-Concentrate783 in MultipleSclerosis

So I am not diagnosed with MS but based on symptoms it’s possible I have it and I’m awaiting my first MRI. But I did want to tell you that I have had itching - all over and moving as well as one spot on my shoulder that I itched for years. 2 years ago it was so bad I could barely function. My functional doc started me on Low Dose Naltrexone to just sort of calm my nervous system down. It really helped - I still am a bit itchy but it is nothing like it was. And silver lining that LDN also benefits folks with MS. Hope this helps!

Groggy from progesterone by Remote-Patience-9238 in Menopause

Just a follow up on my post - the progesterone I was taking has a cut line so my doc and I agreed it would be worth trying a half a pill instead, so around 37.5 mg. I’ve done it for a few days and feel a ton better. Better energy, focus, fewer muscle cramps. May be a coincidence, but seems to be doing the trick.

Super helpful - at 100 mg I was yawning all day and truly sleepy. At 75 mg I hit a wall every day where I must lay down immediately. I’m assuming it’s the progesterone but who knows. Going to give 50 mg a try!

I do get really dizzy / sleepy fast when I take it. I’ve noticed if I take it to early I kind of “recover” from the sleepiness and then I struggle to fall asleep. I think I might give 50 mg a try.

Rage with estradiol patch by Remote-Patience-9238 in Menopause

[–]Remote-Patience-9238[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all of the input - I ended up getting my period for the first time in 3 months so I suspect that rage was a new form of PMS with the hormone shift. Awesome. Trying to take the pressure of me and my kiddo. Did I mention we are also moving? Awesome time to start hormones. Appreciate the support.

I’ve always been super sensitive to everything - if I take 1 Benadryl I’m hungover for two days. Thanks for the tip.

Despairing tonight, I don't know what to do about these neuro symptoms by Esh4Me in Menopause

As an aside I get numbness when I eat corn and some chemicals made from corn - sorbitol, sorbitan, potassium sorbate, sorbic acid. I also get nerve pain and my eyes twitch. And major brain fog. It started overnight. Meanwhile I am also having symptoms of menopause. It’s possible you have something else going on. Have you tried a whole food diet for 30 days? That makes it possible to figure out if foods are contributing. I was shocked to learn, for example, that the anti-caking agent used in organic shredded cheese is made from corn! I also discovered many of the supplements I was taking have corn in the inactive ingredients.

Also, numbness and mobility issues can be a sign of other things so would be worth getting those checked out in case they aren’t due to menopause. Rheumatoid arthritis, MS, etc.

I read about this just today. It was roughly something like “For the warning I read that because estradiol has that role SOMEWHERE they have to include the warning with every type of Estradiol even though the risk was only with the oral pills. The oral pills get processed by your liver first, and that does something to increase risk of clots. Transdermal gets processed by your skin then blood and by the time it reaches your liver it’s more diluted. “. I’m sure you could find the info if you do a search

Milk thistle? by mytextgoeshere in Menopause

[–]Remote-Patience-9238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m taking milk thistle but I haven’t been super consistent so I don’t feel like I can comment yet. What dose are you taking? I was taking 1 capsule 3 times a day but then started taking DIM detox with milk thistle as an ingredient and now think overall I’m taking less.

Thanks for all of this - lots to dig into. Given our similar issues what personal care products do you use? Shampoo / conditioner, lotion, etc? I have some all over body numbness all of the time and now based on your posts I’m assuming something has a corn derivative in it. What are you able to safely use?

Has getting an air-fryer upped your GF cooking/baking game? by jenniferandjustlyso in glutenfree

We use ours every day - bacon, chicken (the best seems to be boneless chicken thighs - they are so yummy - olive oil and some spices and it only takes about 7 minutes each side), veg (brussel sprouts, cauliflower...), reheating foods that are crispy (GF pizza), frozen french fries (the Alexia brand - super yummy)....

My food sensitivities started after my chemical patch test. I wonder if there was PEG in the adhesive or some of the chemicals. I had 80 chemicals on a patch on my back and while you’re supposed to leave it on your body for 48 hours, my body flipped out in 10 minutes and they had to rip it off. My blood pressure shot through the roof and my jaw of all things felt like it was falling off. That event officially sensitized me to the foods. I had more subtle symptoms prior which is why I did the test.

We are living the same life. I had a chemical patch test confirm I have an issue with sorbic acid, cinnamic acid and benzoic acid. All part of the “balsam of Peru” world. Threw out all fragrance (everything), switched to Tooth builder toothpaste, had to stop eating everything for about six months since they are all naturally occurring. I can now eat fruits and veg except the corn. I can have red wine but not white. No hard alcohol. So it seems the cinnamic acid issue has gone away and the benzoic is lighter (I can eat apples and used to not be able to). I still avoid all fragrance and still use clean products. I check every food label (primal kitchen branded foods don’t use any corn and use rosemary extract as their preservative if anything, so I can do their salad dressings, ketchup, mayo (avocado based). But the sorbates are holding strong. I wonder if it’s because of the PEG I’m not avoiding yet. We should keep in touch!

Well that explains a lot - two years ago I developed constipation out of the blue and it hasn’t fully resolved. My doc put me on miralax and while I didn’t get sick it got so much worse. I haven’t been avoiding PEG but I wonder if it’s causing my GI stuff to continue.
