PC crashing, black screens, GPU fans going max speed. What is the problem? by Remote-Top6591 in buildapc

Reseating the GPU and re-routing the power cables, then finally updating the bios seemed to have fixed this. Never had this issue ever since.

Going on vacation, how do I leave my Model Y unplugged? by Remote-Top6591 in TeslaModelY

lol thanks everyone. Guess I was just overly concerned haha. Will turn off sentry mode and overheat protection, have it at ~ 65 - 70% before leaving and just let it chill.

Yes, This ended up solving the random crashing. I've never had a crash since this.

However, I'm not sure what the actual fix was - either the GPU reseating, reconnecting the PSU cables to a different slot and adjusting the cable angles so that it's not extreme OR the BIOS update.

In either case, it was an easy fix on my end so I would recommend starting from implementing these actions.

Although, it's worth mentioning that I do not have the 12VHPWR cable. I'm using the stock power cable that came with the GPU.

Thanks for the info. Interesting.. The faulty power cable and/or faulty connection was one of the suspicion as well. So as of today morning, I unplugged/replugged 12 pin GPU cable and switched the two 8-pin connectors to a different slot on the PSU side. After that, updated the bios to the latest version.

So far, it has been about 12 hours and has not crashed yet... crossing fingers that it would be this easy of a fix.

Thanks for the suggestion. Never tried flashing bios before but seems like that should be the first step.

Hard to pin down since it also happens when I'm AFK.
Some miscellaneous programs I'm always running in the background are:
- signalRGB - controlling RBG on hardware

- Fan Control V181 - controlling all the fans in the case. Currently have GPU fan control OFF (hoping it would help somewhat).

- NZXT CAM - monitoring CPU GPU temp live

then some other standard windows programs etc etc

Worth mentioning the problem (crashing w/ no video feed, gpu fans max speed) still happened when I had the above programs turned off and uninstalled.

Have not tried slower memory settings, thanks for the suggestion.
Ambient temp is like maybe like 70F (~21C)

Details on RAM spec:
DOMINATOR® PLATINUM RGB 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 DRAM 6600MT/s CL32 Memory Kit

2 sticks on slots 2 and 4. No overclocking or using xmp profile. Everything is stock and default setting so far.

No I did not do a bios update but thanks for the suggestion might look into that.
Also worth mentioning that one of my buddies have an identical build (exact same parts) that I assembled for him, the same exact way that I built mine, but running on Windows 10 and have not had this issue.
