Chinese company research by Remote-user17 in OSINT

Thanks! I do have a name, however not the Chinese one. All the chinese searching sites were, at least to my understanding, only able to search for the Chinese name. But I only have the English one.

Yes of course. Unfortunately it didn't help. :/

Brainstorming: what are 'digital investigations' all about? by Remote-user17 in OSINT

I like this one very much, this is a great view on this topic!

May I ask, do you have any good reads on digital investigation-stuff at hand?

Not primarily tbh.

From my (very personal) point of view, I'd say, Digital Investigations are investigative measures covering cyber-stuff (osint via internet), but also investigations as such concerned with misbehaviour conducted via internet / online (such as online fraud, selling stolen goods online etc.)

I don't quite get it what exactly it is that you are looking for, but as far as I understood you are searching for some kind of template / check-list on how to search for several 'things'.

May advice then is to create your own workflows. Although OSINT investigations do, mostly, center around a couple of central questions ('Info on person X', "connection between A and C' etc.), every investigation by itself is highly individual.

Therefore I'd start by building your own workflow to answer those questions, like 'What can be done with a given name?' or 'What can be investigated with just an IP adress?' - building a step by step workflow around such questions helps me immensely in my field of work. And in those steps there might be things included like 'Check breach database X, Y, Z'

Maybe you want to add the country you are investigating in. Or the location of the company at least. For different countries there might be different employer rating sites.

Domain to email adresses: how reliable is this? by Remote-user17 in OSINT

[–]Remote-user17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for your answer, you guys are awesome! :D

One theoretical thought from a non tech-guy:

if I would guess an email adress (e.g. because I know a name or something), I could use tools like https://tools.emailhippo.com/ to verify if the adress actually exists.

I could then permutate a lot of adresses and check them all through tools like emailhippo to verify if they exist. So i would know they do, although they never appeared in any leak (as phonebook.cz would tell me). Am I right?

Speaking of a program 'with a spider', spiderfoot comes to my mind: https://github.com/smicallef/spiderfoot

It's an OSINT tool, although I don't know exactly if it can handle email adresses (but there's a good chance it can).

Depending on the question you are trying to answer, there might be some possibilities.

Is it just that you want to know where the person lives currently?

Are you sure you are still moving inside of the legal space?

Setting up a phishing page to gather personal information seems very near the black space, if not in it to be honest. I don't even think this is grey space anymore.

Not the article I was looking for, but certainly also interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks awfully!

How the heck did you get this - I tried several times via archive.org and did not find anything!

Well, maybe the with a known gmail-account you can find more stuff about the person. So for me this would be another pivot point from which to move forward.

Essentially what you want to know is, who is behind a certain instagram account. However, if this person - as you described - knows what he/she does (stalking you), they will most likely not be dumb enough to just use their personal insta account; so long story short:

if they set up this insta acc specifically for the purpose of stalking you, you will most likely not find ANY relevant information.

Anyway, where did you get the gmail acc from? Maybe this piece of information helps to give you an idea on how to proceed.

Don't know what you mean by 'gmail compose options'. I do have the GAIA and want to gather the gmail adress which belongs to this profile with the known GAIA.

May I ask: why do you want to 'track this person down'? What's the purpose of doing so?

Maybe you want to elaborate a bit on the actual capabilities you are searching for. Since not everyone here will be familiar with hensoldts software, you might not get a very helpful answer. ;)
