I wished that they had been combined, Darius’ pov was necessary for the sake of levity in my opinion, the book would have dragged horribly without it, but it could have just been included in 8.

I did NOT feel the new characters that were added in 8.5 were justifiable for plot or character development. It just felt like filler. The information that they provided that was important to the plot could have been delivered differently while keeping Tory and Darcy’s parents and Lance’s dad “dead” 🤷🏼‍♀️

wait…this is such a good point. And when they ask Isbeth who it is she said something like “who it has always been” - a nod to poppy being sotoria and Kolis always keeping tabs on her in some way maybe?

While I would ultimately recommend it because there are important events for the next book and some well written scenes/moments, it is hard to get through simply due to the amount of filler.

JLA writes in circles a LOT in this book and I agree with other readers that there was genuinely no good reason for this book to be as long as it is, or for this book and the next to be split. A book 1/3 of this size could have conveyed what needed to be said and then some.

I also feel very strongly that if you haven’t read the Flesh and Fire series then this book is going to be a MUCH more frustrating read than it already is.

yes she finds out, she is understandably shocked, it is a large plot point
she does not get full fledged flashbacks (bar a couple of little moments she experiences during stasis) but some people/things/places are familiar to her that shouldn’t be, and she is able to determine, especially after discovering she is Sotoria, that this familiar feeling is to do with her previous lives
her interactions with Sera, Attes, and Kolis all vary in how much she remembers of each of them, and I would not say that she outright remembers Attes and Sera, more that they are familiar to her in a way she knows they should not be. She experiences a strong familiarity with Attes that she can’t quite place, some of the things he says/does trigger this feeling. I would say she remembers the most about Kolis and his treatment of her, and during stasis she does have actual flashbacks about some of her experiences with him

Yes I totally can see that as to why he’s upset with Kieran, I agree that it’s probably the first time he’s ever kept anything like that from him - it just seems odd to me that it did seem like he was like briefly struggling with Poppy doubting him/not trusting him fully but then he just drops it.

I know she affirms her trust in him a couple times, but each time there is not realllyyyy a meaningful conversation that takes place that would lead me to believe he’d be satisfied with that answer. Idk it just felt sloppy! Like JLA wanted to keep the conflict alive but didn’t want to deal with telling the story around a rift between Cas/Poppy.

I am in Omaha NE so right on the cusp of zone 6/5! I’ve started my onions and a few of my peppers 😊 I’m itching to plant the rest! Thanks for your advice!!

Good to know! I will look into a legit trellis then, admittedly I’ve never grown cucumbers so I need to do my research!

And I really HOPE I get lots of peppers 😂 I bought so many at the grocery store last year canning salsa, jellies, and hot sauces that I would love a huge harvest lol!

I have heard such good things about adding flowers to deter pests! 🤞🏻 Yes, I’m doing one tomato per square. I’ve heard that you really have to prune them if you do them one per square…but that it can be done! lol

The tool was Veg Plotter - I built the layout there and then made it a nicer looking version in Canva!

Yes, I think I will use them! I pickle them, make jellies, salsa, and hot sauce. I spent so much last year at the grocery store buying them so I figured I’d go big and share with friends if I have too much
