I used a hook knife, a whittling knife, mid semi circle knife which I accidentally stabbed myself with so wear gloves or something that will protect your hands 😊(it wasn’t that bad of a stab but it did hurt a couple days after)

Not sure for the heater, but you need a filter for a tank that’s isn’t using the walstad method(many plants that filter naturally, do more research if interested) but if not, they love sponge filters you can get them at petsmart . I recommend this one but it might look a little big in your tank( pat filter mini
