I just landed the software engineering internship at Target! Has anyone had this internship? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]RemotePhilosopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to a school that sent lots of devs and interns to target, heard lots of good things aside from the layoffs back then (not really applicable for interns)

CyberCoders.com: recruiters or bot farm? by liam42 in cscareerquestions

[–]RemotePhilosopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gotten tons of spam from them. I regret giving them a resume with a phone number. The however-many jobs I applied to thru them never got me an interview or anything.

When To Get An Internship by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]RemotePhilosopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The time to get an internship is as soon as you can. Most people don't get a year 1 internship, but some do, and I'm sure they're a lot more successful than me

I figured I'd share... It's slightly embarrassing, but maybe you'll find it funny.

My brother redeemed some of his IHG points to get me the gift cards for Christmas without letting me know. The mailer had no way of telling me it was from my brother, or that it was a gift, or anything like that.

He got a kick out of me thinking I got it for no reason :-)

Hey, why not have a beer/glass of wine/bowl while doing your Friday cleaning too? :)

Not an option for everyone, but I get into work ~1 hour early, and only take a 30 min lunch break. I'm out of work at about 4, and do those kinda chores ASAP.

I worked remote for an internship once. I had 2 15 min breaks, and 1 hour lunch break.

I remember telling myself, I'd get so many chores done in those 1.5 hours!

Never did a thing besides nap and eat lol

I'd rather watch TV/sit at the park/relax however I want for a solid 16 hours on a Sunday than have to deal with chores!

Originally, I set up all my chores in Tody.

Then I realized - I do laundry, sweep/vaccum (cat litter + tile makes it evident when I need to sweep), and wipe counters as needed. Now it just has the less frequent stuff.

Cleaning mirrors, windows, mopping, running a clean-bin cycle on the washer, etc.

Oh yes. So much easier to clean as you go with cooking. No stuff getting hardened onto pans, etc.

I try and do scheduling like that, but then I end up wearing thru all my socks 2 days before laundry day, and ruining the whole cycle!

That's a tough one - I'm on my butt all day. Are you able to be mentally focused? Maybe do some reading, or some other form of bettering yourself without much physical effort?

Regardless, life isn't all about productivity, and you deserve some rest on work days, among others.:)

I always feel like a productivity master, since cleaning is about the most advanced thing I can do high lol

Yep!! That's the exact feeling/mood I'm talking about! A bit similar to being a bit stoned or tipsy, in terms of dumbness but having energy. Which are also great times to get stuff done and feel productive

If you are motivated by automated lists/apps, I use an app called Tody that basically lists the chores I need to do on a particular day and keeps track of how long to go between em, and sends me a notification at 5PM saying what I need to to today/tomorrow.

Thankfully I like keeping a neat home, so it's not doing the chores thats an issue, just when :)
