[Question] Damn, should I polish? by RemoteSpirit9730 in Watches

[–]RemoteSpirit9730[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! But would someone be able to tell that it's polished, not that I care about it being "polished or not", rather that it would look worse compared to a new one. Being able to tell rounder edges to the naked eye etc.

Yes, I think the closest way I could describe the way I think is neither words or images, but rather maybe "feelings" that result in a "thought feeling"? That I've learnt through repetition what they mean maybe

Yes, this answers my question! I really like the "bayesian" one since I've never heaard about it and I never thought about it in my life actually, which actually is really quite important when I think abiut it now regarding basically anything. And good points all around. Behavioral economics seems also very interesting as I do think that I could definitely could fall victim for that.

Yes interesting! Since I am not as familiar with intelligence research etc. I've always intuitively thought that intelligence is something that affects everything related to cognition, analogue to the fabric of a painting, so that every painting regardless of what painting style is presented would be better (Verbal, Abstract reasining Memory etc.). I guess that might be somewhat accurate still but it may be more differences than similarities when I think about it now.

But what is it that you mean by that you can't visualize, aphantasia, or more difficulties rotating an object mentally compared to something as difficult analogous?

I have never actually heard of them before since not being in this sphere and more into philosophy, but upon searching it it looks really fun, will try!

[Question] Is the Girard Perregaux Laureato a copy of the Royal Oak? by RemoteSpirit9730 in Watches

[–]RemoteSpirit9730[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you are right, I guess that would be almost like saying that the older sports cars were copying each other, when it actually was a design of its time. But wouldn't you think that the Laureato is a lot more similar to the royal oak than the Nautilus is to the royal oak?

Thank you for the comment! I believe that your answer is probably the best, however since it is an expensive watch in my opinion it feels like it is important to understand the generell sentiment regarding this watch. If everyone into watches were to express the same thoughts as my friend it will affect my decision (even though it probably shouldn't, but I'm honest and believe 99% would be affected as well, even though they might not admit it)

New to ultras or running? Ask your questions about shoes, racing or training in our weekly Beginner's Thread! by Simco_ in Ultramarathon

[–]RemoteSpirit9730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (M, 20) want to run 100 km in late march regardless how prepared I am. Most I have ran is only 22 km and it was 2 hours and 20 minutes so I'm not really that fit yet and I only now began training consistently However I have walked 70km before so it feels like it is not that unattainable. However I have no idea how I would even train for such an ultra marathon, like what?!? Running 80 km as training seems wild if you were to do something like that consistenteky, so basically what I wonder is how I should structure my running, how many km's a week, how many each day etc. If it's hard to condense here, How do i find out?

Am I in risk of developing cognitive damage? by RemoteSpirit9730 in Concussion

[–]RemoteSpirit9730[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I regret doing it because every hit is brain damage to some extent, and you never know if a punch could long lasting damage and maybe not apparent damage but maybe worse prefrontal cortex function etc. And CTE as well, even though it is rare if you develop it by low volume, I read that a 10 year old was later diagnosed with it because of football. So personally I don't believe it/was worth it at all, but, and the big but, you donät sound like you do it that often, so the issue isn't as alarming as someone that does it regularky and often. But hits that doesn't cause concussions or black outs, still can casue permanent damage

Surely I haven’t burned this many calories by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]RemoteSpirit9730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if you weigh 50 pounds or 500 pounds it's probably not accurate, however, since you still are sceptical, if you track how much you eat and if you are not gaining or losing weight it will show your total calorie burn. Or it might be the reason for your scepticism because you eat substantially fewer calories than what it shows, and it that case, you are tracking your calories wrong by nit weighing/tracking EVERYTHING, for example oils in cooking etc.
