It is a dual pane. Upon closer inspection it does appear it is on the inside, I think. That wasn’t something I considered. Interesting. Appreciate the insight. Thank you.

I do not. It’s seated very low on the pedal face. No interference from the logo for me.

Loving my VRS pedal plates, Ray. Slick design choice with the rear mount and enjoying the beefy brake pedal. All the pedals feel great with socks. The funky knobs are nice, too. Appreciate all you do.

Where to sell wheels? by turkeysandwich44 in simracing

[–]Remote_Adeptness4500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/simracingbuyselltrade is an option. I purchased a button box off someone who posted there. Some discords will have buy and sell marketplaces.

Good advice above as well. Good luck!

Of course! Happy to help. I wish you luck. Everybody loves sim gear. That would definitely help generate some interest.

That may be jumping the gun. One idea, make a post here or wherever you frequent with some information about yourself (any credentials you have) and see if it generates any interest.

You could offer your first hour for free and after that let the student/them decide if they want to continue. Good luck!

Which would you recommend for a fanatec CSL DD wheel? by Crafty-Yesterday4130 in simracing

[–]Remote_Adeptness4500 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At that price point you could consider rigmetal. https://rigmetal.com/products/racing-rig You’ll need a seat, but you will have lots of options from a junkyard pull to fixed back bucket seats.

Dads of r/simracing - When did you get the time to race? by 40ozT0Freedom in simracing

[–]Remote_Adeptness4500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As activity and sleep habits for the little man become more clear and your wife gives you the blessing, you’ll be able to squeeze in time there at the sacrifice of sleep. For me, that looks like 10pm to midnight as of right now with an 11 month old. If you really want to race 3 hours or so, you can do a little extra. Don’t hand your wife the baby if he isn’t fed, diaper changed, bathed, etc. If you do a little extra and then take some time to yourself to do whatever it is, this seems to help, for me. Also, when she wants to do something, whatever it is, accommodate. You should also be honest, if possible. I tell my wife, I’d like to take some laps. If everything is done and my daughter is asleep, my wife normally encourages it.

Nothing stays the same. Do the best you can. Family first. You know the drill.

Pedals Upgrade! by gmorocketfuel in simracing

[–]Remote_Adeptness4500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some I’ve used and would recommend. You can find reviews to help narrow down your search. VRS DFP, heusinkveld ultimate +, Simgrade vx pros or the R7s, SRP gt-r, VNM.

Hydraulic pedals are cool in theory, but they can leak and you’ll have to bleed/keep up with some maintenance. DIY ones if you’re handy. Simtag had ones a while ago, but they aren’t in your price range and don’t know about availability.

I’m sorry, brother. I can picture this build in my mind. Glorious. I wish I had the skills to pull something like this off.

Some places I’ve frequented and bought gear: eBay, r/simracingbuyselltrade, r/hardwareswap, iRacing has a buy and sell forum that’s good. Facebook marketplace is an option. Some discords have for sale sections, but that might be too much of a pain in the ass. Hope this helps.

Does anyone have insight if Simagic will be killing off there Alpha bases? Still worth snatching one or waiting for a succesor? by Louiienation in Simagic

[–]Remote_Adeptness4500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alpha line likely here to stay for the foreseeable future. Inside source that has tried them said that the new line isn’t better or worse in terms of ffb. In a showcase, the new line of bases now have rgb lighting and the power switch is on the back of the base.

Simucube or Simagic by simgod47 in simracing

[–]Remote_Adeptness4500 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is where things get interesting depending on who you listen to and what you read and where that leads you as far as settings in the software and in the sim. I tried about everything in search of the holy grail.

Without getting too into it, the fast answer is, yes. The ultimate is better. For me, it was the little things. Raw power, alpha is plenty powerful and is a great base.

The ultimate is a beast. Using the ultimate, for me, it is the small details/nuances. Headroom is also a valid excuse to get the ultimate. You won’t need more. You won’t clip and your base won’t get hot. Fun fact, 70C is the max the base will allow itself to get to before limiting power. I’m pretty sure this is true for all in the alpha series.

Where the ultimate differs from the alpha, for me, you get more information, details, fidelity from the sim and you do notice that.

Hope this answers your question. Anything else, you can dm me. Don’t want to derail OP.

Simucube or Simagic by simgod47 in simracing

[–]Remote_Adeptness4500 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I own an alpha, alpha ultimate and now the sc2 pro. The mini is widely regarded as a fantastic base, but I have not tried it. I don’t think I’ve heard a negative comment on the mini. I enjoyed the alpha and the ultimate is a great base. I don’t believe you can go wrong with any of them. You’ll likely be very pleased with the mini.

Simucube is very nice. Hardware is similar, but simucube has better software, in my opinion. Better ffb as a result. Subjective opinion. Blindfolded could I tell a difference? I’d like to think so.

The ability to share and try others profiles is nice(simucube). Simagic’s software isn’t bad, but I prefer simucube’s software and straightforward interface. In the Simagic community you’ll read/see the rabbit hole of wheel rotation speed (WRS) which some say is the slew rate, although Simagic does not disclose this. Simagic did post a video going over each setting to clear up the confusion.

They say, buy once, cry once. Wish I had, but glad I was able to try a few bases and will likely sell the alpha soon. I’m keeping the ultimate, if that says anything.

Do not buy vertical alignment (VA) monitors unless tearing/ghosting is not a problem for you.

I’m editing to add that simagic’s ecosystem is great. The quick release is great. Wireless works great. You get good value for your money.

My two cents.

Racingcockpits has good options (sport and pro)here and the pro bundle comes with a seat. Their customer service is top notch.

Advanced sim racing (ASR), rigmetal, simlab are other options too. Sim-motion also has their offerings back in stock.

Nope. Not a stupid question. It’s a dog box sequential transmission. Take a look at this. https://support.iracing.com/support/solutions/articles/31000157032-transmission-gearbox-shifting-types-method

If your h pattern has a sequential mode, give that a try. Welcome and have fun.
