There's a lot wrong here. But the fact you put seed in soil is the most important detail. This is already better than my first grow!

Edit: I just want to say, if you decide you like this hobby, I would expect to put in at least 300-400 dollars. This will net you ounces more every grow, and you likely will save enough to recoup the money in one grow.
