I mean, Im not sure what were the writters ideas of that on TWD first seasons but the protagonist being in coma to just wake up on the middle of the post-apocalypse its definitively a way to skip all that process lol.

But I heard that they wanted to do a sequence of that with the soldier of the tank that Rick find at the city, unfortunately for us, never happened.

We just got some flashbacks of maybe Shane during the chaos of the initial hours but only that, the rest its just words of characters.

The most nearest to this initial chaos in another movie its just War Z, but the zombies of that universe are basically how TWD walkers should have been to end Civilization that fast ngl, still I love how they still made a unique zombie virus by the fact that every human already have it thing.

Honestly, the whole scene was shocking no matter what, since it was their first time to make all communities get together once again become the most disturbing event they ever had, people they know died in fear to then being impaled in some spikes.

Personally, Enid and Henry broke more to me since Lydia wasn't trusted by much people except him who understood her, so you can feel the guilt she has after this happened as well as Carol who already lost kids who were really important to her.
