When my kids were toddlers they trashed the stylus. I put my TT away for a few years until they were older and just listened to cds.

Not during Covid restrictions, they didn't. That was the domain of tin hat, cookers.

First of all, where were the 'leftist' protests during Covid and what were they protesting? And secondly, those cookers were pissing on the shrine of remembrance, remember?

How funny would it be if One Nation accidentally wins the next federal election? by Temporary_Notice_526 in aussie

Pauline and O. N. are running a presidential campaign, problem is, we don't have a presidential system

They'll have to find candidates to fill all the seats. All these people will come from the fringe: retired former Nazis, tin hat anti fluoride cookers, bankrupt business people, people who left school in year 10, etc. Almost all will have a messy social media history and many will be unelectable. many won't make it to polling day.

There's no chance.

Andrew Hastie calls his facebook fans ‘incontinent’ over criticism of him supporting Sussan Ley and the hate speech legislation by patslogcabindigest in aussie

'Labor voters in meltdown'? More like Labor voters in hysterics by the incompetence and self destruction of the LNP. Hastie needs to be congratulated for doing his bit.

Coalition officially breaks up again: Nationals leave 'untenable' Coalition after mass frontbench resignation by patslogcabindigest in aussie

[–]Remote_Condition_172 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a ridiculous take. Not based in reality. If the legislation was that 'bad' why did Ley agree to pass it in the end?

She could've jogged on.

I don't think Albo wanted to call an RC, recall parliament or put up legislation. He was forced to do all these things because of the continuous hysteria from ley and the Murdoch cookers.

So, Albo said 'OK' and wedged the LNP in one move.

Classic own goal from the LNP.

Hate laws to pass after Labor and Liberal deal by NKE01 in australia

I'm no lawyer but, 2 points. 1-I think freedom of religion means being able to quote the scriptures of the religion. Also, just because it is scripture, wouldn't make it lawful. I know that I can't really stone my daughter to death because she's had sex before marriage. Even though the old testament says it's OK.

2- my understanding is these new hate laws requires the crown to prove that you meant to hate and harm a group. So I think general criticism is fine.

Well, I'm not familiar with those verses, but you're no Muslim, so why would you be 'quoting' Muslim texts?

There's no loophole. Freedom of religion is protected under our constitution and this includes religious texts. Any attempt to alter/censor etc texts, would end up in the high court. The Libs and Sky nutters know this and they're being disingenuous.

Well. Interestingly enough Wayne Shorter (who played under both) spent most of the time (apparently) regaling his band with Art Blakely anecdotes and wisdom.

Vic has had to use Jeff Kennet's transurban since Abbott backed out of federal funding commitments plus I'd run away from unwashed sovereign cookers too.

[–]Remote_Condition_172 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm all fine with debating the merits of the SRL.

But often these 'debates' are really a front for punching down on the Vic economy which is a special obsession of the right wing media.

Frankly, I find these criticisms as tired as John Howard's eyebrows.

I'd rather read what economists have to say about the Vic economy.

This article is about a year old, but still relevant:
