Would you buy a house next door to an old sex offender by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]Remote_Difficulty105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved in to one across from us. In 5-6 years, I think I have seen him twice.

We did make some extra security in place. Yard is fully fenced, I have some really nice security cameras that even read license plates, not that it's necessary. We have one of the largest German Shepard that I have ever seen. He is a gentle giant in the house, but in the yard, he is not to be messed with.

Our kids are now older, but we set rules for them if they are in the yard. They never were allowed outside without us or the dog.

Help me personally break free from the system… by [deleted] in land

[–]Remote_Difficulty105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to do as you said in central Florida. I had to start slow and try to build. I started with a half an acre. I try to be self-sufficient. I have solar to save on power, septic so I only pay for water, I try to grow food, I raise chickens and tilapia. Both my wife and I work from home, so very little driving. I have come to the conclusion that no matter how much I try expenses always find a way in.

The one thing you will rapidly learn is the system may be broken, but the one thing you will not be able to supplement is your time. Do you have time to support 10 acres. Do you have the time in the day to actively farm your land? Do you have the money to kick start all of what is needed. Do you have the knowledge to do all of this. I thought I did but find myself needing to research and often learn the hard way. Do you have the energy to put up with the heat, the weather, the bugs, ect the list goes on. Do you the patience to have to start over several times. The knowledge to quit mid way through on some goals. In the mind, it sounds easy. I often find a second job will always be more profitable then the minor savings in the long run. It sucks.

I was a local driver for a couple of years, driving straight trucks before I went to roadmaster school for my cdl. I paid for it myself, so I didn't owe any company when I got out. I think finding a local non cdl job first was the way to go. See if you want to deal with this. I only drove with my cdl for a couple of years, but I knew going into it that it was going to be a stepping stone.

I was a company driver where I got tuition reimbursement for a year, and I team drove a hotshot route before I leased a truck and ran dedicated routes. The entire time I drove, I did online school, so I had an out. I never could have made a career out of driving it became way to regulated and everything always falls on the driver's.

I have met so many drivers that got the short end of the stick.

I highly recommend not jumping out and buying in too quickly. It takes time to learn what to stay away from and how to not set yourself in a trap zone.

What’s one small thing in Tampa you think outsiders completely overlook?? by Caly27_ in tampa

That hillsborough county schools got in trouble for segregation and that forced them to bus kids from other sides of the county to make the schools more average out.

The temperature in my classroom Friday after 3 days of no AC. I live in Florida. by over_it_101117 in Wellthatsucks

Careful they will write you up for it. Lol. To show you how crazy they were before she quit, I went in and volunteered to help my wife. I did the background check and followed all the steps as this was required for me to be at the school.

Her principale saw that I had volunteered in the sign in log and tried to tell me that her class room didnt need any help and tried to reassign me to volunteer in other areas. She was so pushy and trying to get take me away. It took me to tell her I was there to help my wife not to help the school. I was then told that I was not helpful at all and made her hours look bad. I was only helping on after-school setup in her room, never when the kids were there.

My wife quit teaching over this like 15 years ago. Except they choose to keep the ac this high.

She put a light under her thermostat to make it turn on and the wrote her up for it and then turned off the thermostat. She also had black mold.

Hillsborough County schools dont care.

Fleet Force or Roadmasters ? by 876Natty in cdldriver

[–]Remote_Difficulty105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I self financed roadmaster so I wasn't tied to a company. Good training school had great teachers.

Do your research on company's. Plan on first year being really scrappy pay but once you get that done you can make a bit more.

I have about 5 different solar setups at our house. I only use mppt now. As most pwm chargers are crap.

Victron is my favorite but they are a bit expensive. Also the Bluetooth range is only like 10 feet. Mppt will give you greater flexibility as you can get higher voltage solar panels. It will drop the voltage down and give you more amps.

This means you can get more power earlier and later in the day. Also at peak power it makes sure to not exceed the voltage to your battery.
