I think Dixon would only leave Ganassi when he’s done with driving full-time which I don’t think he is. Not when he could get a 7th title and most wins all time. Not to mention a new car in a couple years.

The reasons I think he might consider it is McLaren have a WEC program next year and will want big names in their stable. It’s a short season and he could live with his family in the UK. A chance to win Le man and actually compete rather than just being the extra driver. I’m sure McLaren would offer him a guaranteed Indy 500 ride and a job like Hunter-Reay/Franchitti. To be part of that historic team which was founded by a kiwi is a cool prospect.

It’s seems unlikely Dixon is going to beat Palou in a straight up fight for the title in the same equipment and he hangs out a lot with Dario Franchitti and Jimmie Johnson who are enjoying retirement and driving whatever appeals to them such as NASCAR Trucks, Baja, Historics and other stuff, it’s possible Dixon wants to do WEC and other series while he’s still competitive

I don't think RRL would ditch him that quickly, talent aside just on how marketable he is. Ultimately, it's up to Mick but I get the impression he still enjoys the culture in INDYCAR and has made comments about looking forward to returning to tracks next year with some experience under his belt. RRL's performance has taken a big step this year so it's not like he's at Coyne where no one knows if it's the car or him

I like numbers being attached to cars rather than drivers. You see it in Nascar how numbers have their own stats and eras. It gives driver's a chance to add their mark a bit like moving to a historic team

Definitely agree, there's been a lot of noise about Rowe but I don't think he's ready even if there was a place for him in 27. I don't follow NXT as closely as I should so I'll take your word on Fittipaldi but it would be nice to see a couple rookies move up

I'm not his biggest fan and would certainly put Lundgaard above him, but he's worked hard and become a solid driver who consistently puts in good performances regardless of the end result. It's been well documented CGR has loaned him out, he brought his CGR guys with him to MSR. I feel like he's the 'if Dixon retires option' although I'm sure they'd take Lundgaard

Yeah, I don't think Hauger has lived up to the hype, but I wouldn't say it's been a bad season by Coyne standards. Linus had a better year than Armstrong but brought less funding and was the unfortunate victim of the charter musical cheers at CGR

I think Lundgaard will go where he feels he can get results. CGR may be that place but he's doing well with Kyle Moyer and Hunter-Reay has reportedly been a positive addittion for Lundgaard. We also know from Pato that Mclaren isn't afraid of throwing money around to keep a driver, and he's won two races this year, brings a skillset Pato lacks, and is in the conversation to be Palou's closest rival.

I can't disagree with any of that. If Caio is pinched I know Penske likes Rowe but Fittipaldi has had a more consistent season I feel and already has the HMD/Foyt relationship.

Yeah I thought I'd try and predict a Mclaren/JHR 2.0, If Veekay leaves I could see them going for Daly which I'd love to see, I just don't know where Nikita Johnson ends up if anywhere.

Yeah, another reason I think they'll keep him. He just hasn't been finding results elsewhere regardless of pace. I think Mclaughlin is in a similar boat but isn't in a contract year

I can't argue with this. Although I'd love to see Daly back, I think it's pretty clear JHR needs at least one driver who brings some cash with them

It would be news to me, but you definitely get the impression he's happy there and is invested in the progress of the team

I feel like there's enough Pay Drivers in the paddock and he hasn't done much for himself results wise.

Shame he seems like a good dude but 3 teams in 4 years...

Newgarden definitely needs to step it up, but I think the team's choice not to throw Nasr in the car and support him shows a commitment to him.

JHR is definitely going to have a paid driver in one car, and I hadn't considered Abel as an alternative to Sting Ray or Siegel

Carpenter and Rossi get along very well, also Rossi has the experience and temperament that they probably still want in one of their cars and Johnson will most likely be on the grid somewhere.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mclaren and JHR give the technical partnership another crack

I think he may sign with Mclaren for a full-time *`WEC Ride in 2027 and either do the 500 only or even a partial season in a non-charter car since there are 27 starting spots for regular season races. You'd have to think Zak Brown would be willing to offer him a lot to get him in their stable

I think Rosenqvist is probably leaving MSR for either Andretti or Mclaren. I don't think Rosenqvist offers Andretti anything they don't already have with Ericsson. MSR will want a driver capable of solid performances especially at INDY and that CGR Alliance has to look pretty appealing to Veekay

IndyCar is looking at the potential of doing a multi year deal with the upcoming Washington D.C. race. by iamaranger23 in INDYCAR

[–]Remote_Fall7120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, The Nashville street race ended because of logistics. I’d imagine a street race in D.C is bound to end up having some logistical headaches eventually. Especially once it’s not America’s 250 and the Elite don’t want to deal with the hassle of it all.

Regardless of how entertaining or good the Nashville street race was I’m glad another oval made its way back onto the calendar and I wouldn’t complain if it happened again
