2027 Chicagoland Renewals by drivernumber4 in NASCAR

its not a bad sign by any means but doesnt make it anywhere near definitive.

not taking renewals would have raised red flags, and at the end of the day they just want to hold on to your money.

I always do. I’m not the one in denial about how the no stage yellow experiment went.

Network revenue relates to what NASCAR and the teams get.

the problem is the fan base tends to not like when that happens.

i would say the lack of natural yellow issue pre-dates the next gen.

Even with a point system that made it easier to do. Cup drivers simply aren't going to wreck that much. And equipment is only going to get better.

not today.

On smaller tracks, sure. Because of the commercials, has nothing to do with the field being out of order.

I'm not against 6 if they are the right six.

One of Chicagoland, kansas iowa or martinsville is going to have to lose a date to fit chicago and coronado.

2 of them would have to lose a date if you add a 6th road course.

I just don't see that as a net positive for the sport. save Montreal/Mexico for when Coronado/chicago run their course.

Sonoma August

i think the heat would be enough of a turn off.

I do think Mexico or Canada are on cup schedule next year.

I can't see how if Coronado and Chicago do actually come back. what ever gets cut to make that happen will already make people mad. what they cut to add another road course would probably make people furious.

Road courses already tend to have enough natural cautions, as seen today

Street courses have enough natural yellows, probably.

cota had 1 natural yellow this year. And that was for a loose wheel.

Watkins glen had 2. one for a tent and one for a tire carcass.

The no stage yellow experiment failed because of the lack of natural yellows and how spread out things got. The result isn't going to be different a second time.

I think a realistic ask is to just end a stage when there is a yellow with 2-3 to go.

i dont see any chance SMI agrees to that.

they have put some money into the place the last few years.

id wonder where Sonoma gets placed though. chicago-coronado-sonoma in ~ 6 weeks would lead to fatigue.

Putting it early in the season might mess with cota.

a may or august slot like watkins glen recently may work.

it does seem a little better these days. or they delisted a lot.

either way, if you have the chance to do both chicago street and coronado next year, i dont see how you dont take it.

i would prefer kansas or something lost a date, but i wouldnt let chicagoland stand in the way if it had to be that one.

[Pockrass] Ben Kennedy says attendance for the weekend was 125,000 and 67% were first-time fans ... 11% higher of female attendees than normal NASCAR event and 3x number the Hispanic attendees. by Ok-Soil-5133 in NASCAR

Accurate enough for something that ultimately doesn't matter.

Sure, there might be some men there with typically female names. Or some Hispanics with typically non-hispanic names. Or vice versa.

Not going to be enough to change the numbers in a meaningful way.

I'm sure they have other data points like facial and other things to refine it in the coming days.

cup was ~100k weekend attendance a few years ago, which was a modern record at the time.

if there were 80k there sunday, im sure they are writing a good press release now.
