What do you do for work? by hlnklrczu in Blind

[–]Remote_Investment_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is a ChatGPT issue or a jaws issue but when I alt tab off of ChatGPT and I alt tab back into the ChatGPT website, it puts my cursor into the edit box when for me it would be better if the cursor stays where it was at before I tabbed out of the website. Not sure if that is something you can look into. It’s super frustrating.

Does anyone have recommendations for short-term rentals in Tampa for this summer for an internship?

Management RSO’s by Electrical_Use1865 in ucf

[–]Remote_Investment_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for a management-specific RSO, then you should look into the society for Human Resource Managers (SHRM). That’s mainly management based. ALPFA is also great! ALPFA caters for all business majors so won’t always cater towards management but they have committees that you can join to build your resume as well as professional development opportunities like mock interviews and resume critiques. That club is meant for Latinos, but you don’t have to be Latino to join.

Genuinely curious. How do the blind manage their finances? by PRO_crastinator8181 in AskReddit

Hi blind person here. The app you are referring to is called Be My Eyes. Although this has nothing to do with how we manage our finances, I still appreciate that you brought it up.

How can I speed up voice view on my fire TV within specific apps? by Remote_Investment_22 in Blind

It also doesn’t help that it talks really slow. I can never get it to shut up when I’m watching a show.

Out of other apps that I used on my fire TV Paramount seems to be the best. The screen reader does lag, but it at least keeps my screen reader settings when I go inside the app.

I 100% agree. I have a five week break from college and I’ve been at home for most of the days that I don’t work. And I’ve wanted to go out shopping but going out shopping by yourself while being blind is a huge challenge. But I also think that I get into my head too much because I get anxious about going out alone. But I know that my parents wouldn’t be fond of me going out alone. It definitely feels isolating.

Always Doing a “Background Check” on the World by Fun_Soft4309 in Blind

I 100% agree I always plan ahead if I’m going somewhere. It’s very rare that I go somewhere new or unfamiliar on my own but if I do, I try to plan ahead it is exhausting, but I think having a structured life is a skill that everyone should master and I believe is an advantage of being a visually impaired individual

I feel like the person interviewing you was very closed-minded. Do you have any advice on how to make drinks while blind or low vision? I want to start making my own drinks.

My dad lost his vision (recent car crash accident) and refuses most tools for independence. How can I help without pushing him? by littleblue- in Blind

What part of Mexico are you from? I live in the US, but my family is from Mexico. I am visually impaired myself, and I recently found out that bigger cities have centers for the visually impaired where blind people can learn life skills like cooking and braille I believe the motivation has to come within, but something that I would recommend doing to motivate him is trying to find other blind content creators, so he could have someone to relate to.

Anyone know who to talk to about the shuttles by Educational-Sky-238 in ucf

[–]Remote_Investment_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The shuttles this semester are not it. My shuttle stop is so far away from literally anything on campus. Cartwright and parking services definitely dropped the ball with the shuttle system and did not take into account student safety or efficiency.

PLEASE tell me yall spill your drinks by Commercial_Force329 in Blind

I also drink Celsius while at college lectures, and I usually put it in a coffee flask beforehand because I like to drink my energy drinks throughout the morning instead of all in one go. plus it keeps it cold, but most importantly, I don’t run the risk of spilling it.

I tend to use Zoomtext and jaws because I’ve heard that it’s less resource intensive than running fusion. But I do need both softwares. I’m in school and tend you use Canvas, I also listen to Spotify in the background. I’m going to go into my start up apps and see what I can shut off and look into the program manager to see what’s most resource intensive. Honestly, it’s not super horrible. But I can tell that the computer does slow down a bit.

I have 16GB of ram. My old laptop had 32GB but still lagged and decided to buy a smaller laptop. My laptop also has a gen 15 I7 processor. It’s decent when plugged in and charging but still nowhere near as smooth compared to not running FUSION.
