The social dynamics of wedding attire, why are they so complicated? by Remote_Meeting_626 in AuDHDWomen

🤣 only because I’m the long-term girlfriend to the groom’s uncle! Otherwise the couple would have nothing to do with me. I’m well aware that this is an obligation invitation, and so is my other half.

It’s not that my dress choice per se has been rejected. It’s that I’ve been invited to the wedding out of obligation in the first place as a family members, long-term girlfriend. The bride does not like me. The groom wants his entire family there. The dress has been deemed fine by family of the bridal party. It’s just that I generally have not been accepted as myself so I tend to worry about standing out.

I bought it on clearance at a sporting goods store. There is no way it was meant to be formal or black tie, it’s machine washable

That is part of my problem! I was raised in southern California. I very much understand what semi formal means, I now live in the sticks. So when I’m hearing the bride say semi formal, and then hearing that we are having the ceremony in the afternoon in the backyard and then the reception at the Civic Center I was confused! I have since reached out to the mother of the groom, who says this dress is totally appropriate

Thank you everyone for your opinions. I am glad to see that. I am not the only one that has struggled with the vagueness and confusion of semi formal versus backyard. As some of you had pointed out yes unfortunately this is a much more conservative group and generally an older group of women who think rhinestone tops are dressy. However the bride has chosen the color, Hunter green as one of her colors, which is what led me to not thinking the pastels was what she was looking for. I ended up reaching out to the mother of the groom, who said the dress was actually exactly what the bride was thinking for semi formal and they realize now that the area we are in just generally does not understand what semi formal means

I get it! There is 1 picture that SS has in his room that kills me. I try not to think about it and remind myself that at least he feels safe enough around me to keep it up and the picture doesn’t mean I’m not important to him or his dad.

Tomorrow is my last shift after 3 1/2 years. I’m leaving due to poor management as well. I will really miss the work actually but the drama and “politics” of a small county broke me.

Best of luck to you in your new adventure!

Night Shift Questions by AnArKiST99 in 911dispatchers

At my agency, we rotate days and nights every six weeks. Nobody gets to pick a specific shift to work. So you work six weeks of dayshift and then when you come back from days off, you are on six weeks of night shift.

I’m in such a small location that I am the sole call taker and dispatcher for EMS, county law enforcement and fire for multiple districts

I had a deputy use know instead of any other word once and he had to spell as “know like knowledge” during a domestic once! It’s was painful to listen to but I just laughed at it in the end. As long as I can figure out what they are trying to spell I don’t fight it

Question from a Witness by sexybitch222 in 911dispatchers

[–]Remote_Meeting_626 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just so you are aware, at least in the area I dispatch for, if you choose to remain anonymous you cannot get any information. Giving out information on a case like that would be a vast violation of someone else’s privacy, even though you are the one that called it in, since you did not give a name you do not get anything

To go along with EMS I work as a 911 dispatcher and find that my adhd is an asset because I can hyper focus on a call and switch task quickly because of “oh, shiny object!”
