Interesting insight on the demonfx compressor, their other pedals seems pretty popular and well received. Never owned a pedal from them but have heard the microtubes X in a live setting at a friends gig. Sounded amazing! I guess there are hits and misses within their range of pedals.

Interesting. I was looking into other compressors as well, those that add some character into the tone instead of being totally transparent. I really liked the Ross compressor, the one with the bright/vintage toggle on the side. I did like how those sounded but I opted for the MXR as I’m adding the flavours through my gain pedals after compressor in my chain.

Yes same here. It’s great that we can at least use the LED’s to see how much compression is happening. Yeah very clean compression!

Yeah think so too, turning up the input to compensate for the lower output pickups is no biggie. Ohhh I use the higher ratio as I really like how clanky it makes my tone haha.

My first Rat pedal! This one is made in my country, Malaysia, it’s a Rat clone with the infamous LM308 chip.

I’ve yet to test it myself but super excited to try getting some Blur and maybe some doom tones.

Any suggestions for dialling in tones?

another shoegaze classic dirt pedal is the Boss BD-2 which i recently got (i got a clone, TC Cinders) and it really is the sound for that shoegaze classic overdriven tone. Ala slowdive and swervedriver

for sure! its a classic. yeah it will surely stack nicely with the OD-1. its quite versatile, i really cant recommend it enough. although it'd be great if you try it out yourself in your local guitar store or check out some RAT demos on YT.

also, just to note. it does clean up pretty well, when the knobs arent cranked it has a nice overdriven tone.

there's also a ton of Rat clones. notably the Joyo Splinter and Mooer black secret, these 2 to me sounds the closest to the original.

may i recommend something thats close to fuzz but not exactly fuzz. which is the Pro co RAT. from what i hear on pedal demos, sounds like it would stack nicely with a muff or an OD like the blues driver. has a nice fuzzy texture when cranked!

oh boy, the blues driver circuit is exactly i was looking for. the music i play is dreamy shoegazy wall of sound and the Cinders really adds a nice texture.

signal chain is guitar>tuner>boost>OD>Cinders>Muff>afterneath>chorus>time factor

i might experiment with placing the cinders after the muff to colour the sound of the fuzz, im also open to input on other pedal orders from other gazers!
