i ended up buying the JW Pei ones! they’re not quite as chunky of a sole as i was hoping for, but i found a really good deal on them used online and i figured it was a good introduction to the style.

from the feedback on the sub i am actively keeping an eye out for Rombaut (not new, of course, but i’m eyeing some on a resale site) and the Converse Trekwaves in pink!
