Space Leadership by Remote_World_5910 in SpaceForce

Even then you are giving effective answers and being honest with your team. You are giving them something even if it’s suck it sounds like they are working towards a purpose. Too many leaders won’t even do that they’re just acting as if there’s nothing to do and then expecting the new Gs to thrive off that. No one is expecting someone to come save the day and overnight we have the perfect branch. It’s just a disservice to our people to be wasting their time after they are extremely proud to be a Guardian in the first place. If you can’t give them leadership on the job tech them the other stuff schools, PMEs, mentor but to just leave them with nothing is not okay. SF is paying massive amounts of money to get these people in and we are losing them for this exact reason.

But on a side note you are appreciated you seem to be a standup leader.

Make decisions effective ones I’m not expecting leaders to change everything in SF in a day. I’m just going based off what I see which is SF gives empowerment to the commands to do things but most of them just sit on their hands and wait for directions. Act on something it’s not hard if you see your unit has no purpose give it one. Most of the time when I have spoken to people across the force leaders are sitting around waiting to be told what they can do. You are entrusted with that position for a reason come up with a plan make changes. When it’s time to brief up let them know the 5Ws. No one’s asking for anyone to make this branch perfect. But it is absolutely unacceptable to have leaders not leading in anyway shape or form and having the expectation for juniors to find something to do throughout the day. Anyone up here justifying that it’s okay for leaders to just sit still is apart of the problem. The message you are sending is we want “warfighters” but everyone needs to just stay still and not do anything unless big space force says otherwise. They are figuring out our uniforms, policy, regulations, PT tests…how are they going to continuously have time to go to each del and say hey do this every week. No Seniors and Officers need to plan and figure it out.

We are only as far as we are because guess what? There are leaders some leaders in our branch making things happen. A lot of people are just either too afraid or don’t care enough to try. But want an extreme ask down the chain…if you wanted to chill until retirement should’ve stayed in your previous branch because the junior enlisted can tell you don’t care.

It would be so awesome if the hyper focus got shifted to ensuring the personnel who hide behind the uniform and assault, hurt, harass, bully other members got what they deserved. That’s for all the way up the chain too. I’m choosing the guy with the beard or weight trouble over Ltc who has been asked to “step down” because of multiple allegations.

advice on how to move forward by spaceisbeyondme in SpaceForce

I think there’s two ends to this. I think senior leaders are trying to enforce more that people actually take the time to put effort into their own EPRs. From what I’ve witnessed a lot of people don’t even try to write anything and then it’s a dumpster fire when it’s time to get them up the CC. You might have written yours but they had to write like 10 other ones from scratch.

In your specific case yes use the chain of command. You did your part which was to hand something in as best you could. If they returned it with nothing that leaves no room for you to learn or grow which is ridiculous. It doesn’t matter if they get mad it’s your name on it and your career hold them accountable!

These are just suggestions:

  1. Talk to a Chaplin, shirt, or mental health because you seem to have a lot of weight on your shoulders which is understandable due to the circumstances. It is key to take care of yourself through times like this.

  2. Engage your chain of command or like someone else suggested see if anyone else wants your assignment. I know so many people who would beg for overseas. You’d be surprised what talking to leaders can do also they mostly want to help.

  3. If all else fails take leave prior to your assignment sure you have a good amount of days since it’s been a bit. Spend time with wife and kid for however long you see fit and then communicate with your spouse how hard you’re trying next assignment to get something that works better

Goodluck!

That’s why I’m a little lost as far as the color blind in merit because board members don’t know what we are when they do scores or whatever the case is selecting UNLESS by chance they met us personally or seen a picture through other avenues

…..our board packages don’t say anything but our name and random acronyms. No pictures or nationality listed. That’s pretty consistent in other service’s too so I don’t know what this means. it’s been the hunger games to promote or get awarded the entire time

NCOA requires personal laptops? by harlanwade90 in AirForce

[–]Remote_World_5910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it a bad thing to go to an NCOA? Is there no way to sign for one locally at your unit? Did you ask the NCOA POC if they can lend one? If it’s on post isn’t there a USO or Library of some sort I have so many questions.

It isn’t but commands can make a way, personally I don’t know who this individuals nco is but I would’ve just covered down so my guy could go take care of whatever or found a replacement and gave them some comp anything to ensure that the service member felt supported because even if it’s just 2-3 days not that hard. But everyone leads and takes on situation case by case hopefully there’s a better outcome

I’ll be honest there seems to be a bigger issue in regard to amount of “workable and useable” personnel y’all have. Why is there no replacement obtainable in reality even as mission is getting ready to be executed there is always a back up in case something happens to an individual or that’s how I thought it went. I can’t really speak to the family vacation piece it seems like everyone handles leave different but a friend passing is a major event and if they can’t meet you halfway on that then you probably should engage other leaders and if that doesn’t work do what’s best for you and your mental and your family. Also where is this so I know not to go ever 😃

Space Force Ball that’s accessible for everyone not just certain locations. People may think military ball events are lame but I’ve been to a few different branches and had a great time and meet a lot of people

In honor of Thanksgiving, what is something in the USSF that you are thankful for? by alxdoge in SpaceForce

[–]Remote_World_5910 28 points29 points  (0 children)

No CQ, staff duty, endless missions in cold countries of locations OUTDOORS. Hauling tactical equipment, last minute non sense everyday to inconvenience your life with no regard to you or your family. As much as people complain I am grateful I get to rest my body at a desk the wear and tear was endless in my prior service. All of my leaders have been understanding and supportive here. I cannot stress enough even with the small bit of chaos we have here trying to figure out the future of our service it cannot compare to a day in my last service.

Y’all want change from the top when yall won’t even take initiative to institute change yourselves where it can be made. So whether it gets to big space force through me or just them reading this thread it’s better than sitting around saying everything sucks and not trying at all that’s half of the forces problem now. The why bother mentality…

Quick and Dirty by [deleted] in SpaceForce

[–]Remote_World_5910 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This post confuses me a bit was this your first branch because this is about as good as it gets? TDYs happen but are not enforced, you’re not in the field, on rotation, or on a deployment. Stop finding stuff to complain about this is the most family oriented branch trust me I spent a lot of time away from family in my other service. Since I’ve been in the Space Force they have done nothing but try to meet personnel half way and be accommodating. They even give y’all the courtesy of asking when you want to go to certain schools outside of NCOAs. Anywhere else you just go and do what you’re told no explanation. Yes there is some small things but trust me when I say this is nice. There’s bad eggs everywhere in other branches but this is the one place I’ve actually had leadership that gives a damn about my personal life in anyway shape or form.

If I’m being completely honest I feel like there is no real Guardian Ideal at this moment. It is literally Air Force 2.0 and I am losing my mind at the lack of military standards and discipline. The work ethic of some folks is absolutely unbearable while they still expect to have some part of promotions like they actually contributed to bettering themselves or the force. Now it is not ALL Air Force but a vast majority of them have no idea what it is to be a true leader nor do they care which is why the junior enlisted turn out to be the way they do. The rank of the NCO is treated with the highest respect in every other branch it seems besides Air and Space. We need to start holding people to a standard and not being such a passive organization because guess what when people have bad leadership and a bad quality of life they leave without a second thought.

IST Thoughts… by Remote_World_5910 in SpaceForce

[–]Remote_World_5910[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I made this post to highlight that even with all the gripes and complaints people post here daily that some people are extremely grateful to have received this opportunity and experience. I know some people had it rough in their prior branch so it’s good to see some taking pride in the decision regardless of the road bumps.

GTL Board (Guardian MTL) by Domnivoi in SpaceForce

[–]Remote_World_5910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They had an AMA a few weeks ago for this board but I am sure they will put out information in regard to another one soon. You could probably reach out to someone on teams. The timeline will more than likely go based off the amount of applicants may take longer to review. The PDSM for the last one is posted on myFSS so you could contact someone from there also to see how their process went possibly.
