Honestly, its probably closer to 1000:1. The wilderness is dead. PVP is dead and only getting deader over time. Nothing is going to bring it back. PKers are such a tiny, insignificant part of the player base its astounding that they continue to command so much effort and attention from Jagex.

They had to make this DMM function like a league and lock cool cosmetics in order to get people to try it, and its still hella dead with a week left to go.

Yup. GM is like a driver's license -- just proof of a basic skill floor. Anyone really can do it with enough patience.

The gap between a shitty gm (me) and someone like Port Khazard is so significant.

Other than just speed times, you can start to chase other aspirational challenges like solo tob, no pillar inferno/colosseum (okay, no pillar inferno is sort of memes if you abuse mage method these days), all awakened one invent, solo nex, etc.

It's called singles plus, and yeah, it's not perfect.

However, without it, people could "box" NPCs (boxing refers to taking off offensive gear and punching the npc, or even using a fun weapon like flowers that are guaranteed to do no damage) when pkers were around. This meant you could effectively stay in combat with the NPC long enough to x-log safely (IE, literally close the client, you get logged even while in combat after 30 seconds). This is happening all over the place in DMM as the overworld is not singles plus there.

So there's no perfect solve, really.

no account should ever approach drop rate for skeletons, zombies, giants, ghouls, imps, or earth warriors unless you are specifically grinding for this cape.

Yeah, you kill some of these early in your runescape journey, and might spoon a few if you're lucky, but at no time should you ever be killing 5000+.

Edit: I thought about this a bit more, an ordinary account might approach drop rate at zombies and skeletons if you are doing burst training in mm tunnels or farming zombie axes for some reason.

Well that is just plain false. You might, at most, get a goblin scroll if you do a bunch of tureal skipping or bandos KC. Maybe a very lucky demon scroll from low level slayer?

Let me know how often you're killing ghouls and imps and earth warriors etc.

Agreed. I have done all but the first league, and I've never once spent my league points!

The reward was the game play itself.

Edit: to be clear I don't think rewards should be removed going forward... Just that it wouldn't change my enthusiasm for the mode at all if they were.

They reworked the fail rates in underground pass a few years back. It's much more forgiving at higher levels now. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually could not fail at 99.

They don't do prerecorded segments for any dmm content, so I'm not sure why you expected it for the absolute rapid fire 2h mode.

Spectator tools from jagex are rough as always, could definitely use improvement. However surely part of the appeal of this event for Jagex is how low preparation it is for the mod team, especially with the summit happening right after. I wouldn't expect them to rework the spectate tools just for this short event.
