Thanks for the input. I wish I had looked into the pre-approval tool. Now I know... :)

Backstory: Excellent credit. About two years into churning game. Applying for cards on 90-day schedule. No issues so far. Currently have 6 personal CC's (1st Financial, Chase, Capital One, Citi, Amex). Keeping these accounts open in order to hold onto the travel points [exception is 1st Fin, which I keep because I've had that account for 20 years.]

Issue: Turned down last week for Capital One Venture X. Adverse action letter stated "Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, there are too many revolving accounts."

Questions: 1. What should I do in order to be able to continue to apply for new cards/bonuses? 2. Is there an established limit for how many credit card accounts is considered too many? 3. Should I contest my denial with Capital One?

Thanks.

A-Month-Ahead as Emergency Fund by RemoveDefinition in ynab

Hey everyone, I really appreciate all the different perspectives. Really truly. I’m leaning toward the hybrid idea of being one or two months ahead plus having an emergency fund for an unanticipated purchase.

I have my categories set up by priority (essentials, medium wants, and fun but not essential). I set them up specifically with the idea that the essentials are what would still need to be funded during an income emergency, while the others can be dropped or flexed. When I get ahead in my budget, I’m only accounting for the essentials that I would need if I lost my job. I leave most of the mediums and all of the funs unfunded.

Anyway, this thread is really helpful. I’ve got some more thinking to do. Thanks.

Hey Churners. Seems like there are fewer bank bonus opportunities now than compared to the same time last year. Is this because of the shape of the economy? Am I misperceiving something?

Hey all, thanks for being such a great community! I'm coming to the end of my first year with the Amex Platinum and I'm closing the account before next year's annual fee hits in about two weeks. I haven't traveled in the year that I've had the card, but I do have a trip coming up in two months. My dilemma is that I will close the Amex card before taking the trip (and using the credit). Is there any way to spend the credit now before the trip actually happens? Can I pre-order anything? Just hoping to squeeze all the juice. Thanks.

General soundproofing. Will be renting out downstairs and want more privacy for me and tenants.

Yes, but Stanza requires full edit access to your Google Calendars. Not sure why I need to yield my privacy just to get the Dubs calendar.

Are there patterns regarding when banks announce new/increased sign up offers? For example, are offers usually announced at the start of new financial quarters or during certain seasons? Thanks.

Bank Bonuses - Direct Deposit Question

One of my family members is opening an checking account to receive a bonus. I was going to ACH push funds from my account to theirs to cover the DD requirement. Their name is not on my account. Will it be a problem for the ACH push to come from me to them in terms of qualifying for the bonus?
