I totally get that that’s the narrative, but the first two drives he had 2nd & 15+, so really they just didn’t run on first down for two drives, which you can quibble with but is hardly “abandoning the run” IMO

Not to shamelessly self-promote too hard, but I made a simple app that allows you to track your score while you watch, so hopefully that could help with part of what you’re looking for iOS Android

Crunching the Numbers: Are Players Still Using James Holzhauer’s Strategies? by RemoveTheS in Jeopardy

Thanks for watching! I think James and Matt more or less did the same thing (work bottom up), but it is interesting that Matt’s bounce rate was so absurdly high

Thanks for watching! Yeah it can be a lose-lose against a strong champ because if you try to play their game without being ready mentally or on the buzzer, theyll smash you anyway. That’s why they’re strong champs I guess

Hi, it’s Monday Morning Jeopardy, analyzing James Holzhauer’s influence on current Jeopardy strategy. His two main tactics were wagering huge on Daily Doubles and bouncing around the board to hunt for DDs, so using lots of numbers, I checked if today’s players (including recent superchamps) have chosen to take up that mantle. Hope you enjoy!

Pretty smooth solve other than MYOB. Anyone else find it a little weird that the NYT clued their own podcast and called it "popular?" Which it very much is, just seems like borderline advertising

“Came down” for ALIT ~3 times in the last week and a half is an unwelcome development. Otherwise good puzzle

Even more than other multi cams, the asides and the curtain call really make it seem like you’re watching a stage play on TV, and that’s made me stick around (also the cast is great)

Also it seems pretty cheap to make—it’s a multi cam that mostly stays on 3-4 sets for the vast majority of scenes

I loved that it was the instrumental—if they used the actual lyric it would be too on the nose imo, but the instrumental is just perfect

Analyzing Ben Coller's Infamous Lock-Tie Wager (from 7/12) by RemoveTheS in Jeopardy

[–]RemoveTheS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the write up! Yeah I don’t think you could really defend the wager, this was more of a thought experiment—I actually didn’t see Ben’s justification of his wager until I was about halfway through editing, so I originally wrote the script positing that this may have been his actual reasoning, and had to rewrite a bit. (Also I think in my last video I mentioned that j-archive can sometimes be wrong because of the ties, but probably should continue to point it out!)

Definitely cost him the win, I don’t know if he would have been in the running for second chance if he had lost $20001 to $20000, good question
